Another Note 10.1 Review-Check It Out!!!

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 review (Full HD) - YouTube

Still waiting to get my 32 GB Deep Grey Note 10.1 soon. Have to settle for YouTube for now.

Thanks for posting that link. While it was a bit hard to understand at times, it was actually nice to see an obvious real user, not a rehearsed show, go through those paces.

I just saw a review from Computer Shopper. I used to read that magazine cover to cover every month. They've always been well respected and are a part of the zdnet publishing family. Check this out.

Both are great and accurate reviews. And Computer Shopper gives it 4 stars and names it an editors choice winner.

I'm not understanding all the other negative reviews.

Just an open message for folks who might come across this thread from a search for information trying to figure out what to believe about the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. This thread began because some of us were upset about negative reviews that you might have come across as well that, as we users see it, are mostly unfounded and biased. For another source of genuine user reviews, try reading the reviews on BestBuy.com's website Those are regular users and I was very pleased to see that most of them love their Note 10.1 as much as we do! And a lot of them gave excellent descriptions as to how they use the special features in a practical way. And, not that I want to sound like a sales pitch, but I remember feeling overwhelmed with all there was to learn when I got my first Galaxy Note which was the phone. Android Central forums came up the most when I tried searching for how to do things on it. I signed up and have learned so much from these folks. If you have questions about buying any android device, or have questions after getting one, c'mon back and ask!

UPDATE: Ordered my Deep Gray 32 GB Note 10.1 at Best Buy today. Should be here by Wednesday at the latest.

So if the review is negative it is biased and inaccurate, but if it's positive it's telling the truth? Don't you see the problem with that?

Yep, right on brother. This is a Note 10.1 forum.

Don't you see the problem with that?
I don't. Seriously though, people are reviewing this tablet the wrong way. And the negative reviews are just childish and unprofessional. You've read some so you know what I mean. If you haven't then you shouldn't be commenting. Check out MobileTech Review for a good example of a non biased professional review.

@JHBThree: I don't think that's what the poster is saying. It sounds to me they are saying the best information about the device is going to come from people who actually use it.

Most times these professional reviewers spend very little time with the device, and are only focusing on stuff that really doesn't speak to how the device is used in everyday life. If you and I read the comments of people who actually spent their own hard earned money to buy the device (not a demo unit they could care less about) we would get a more accurate assessment of the device.

I always recommend people stay clear of professional reviews for any product or service. Either buy it for yourself and make your own assessment of its value and usefulness, or at least really upon actual users who have real life experience.

IMO I think that is what the poster was seeking to communicate. The comments of actual users on Best Buy's website is likely a more unbiased review of the Note 10.1.

So its unprofessional to post what someone actually observed with a device? My what an interesting world you live in.

I guess you won't be too upset when all of the tech sites review the iPhone 5 and call it the best thing since sliced bread then, right?

If the note is crap, it should be called out for being crap. Obviously, a lot of reviewers out there thought the note was a sub par product. It is not unprofessional to tell it like it is and call a device garbage when that's what your experience with it is.

No, that's exactly what he was saying. Apparently negative reviewers are just 'holding it wrong'.

No, of course not. I didn't mean to imply that. I was referring to the ones that act like it's so awful it should be in the trash and no one in their right mind would buy one! I remember that when the first Galaxy Note was unveiled, I read everything I could find thinking that it sounded really wonderful with features I'd love according to some reviewers and a laughable monstrosity according to others. When I tried to give myself an education on some of the terminology and learn what it meant to have an 'android' phone, Android Central threads came up a lot and reading them was a big help to me. I just figured other folks were doing the same things and wanted them to know there were fairer reviews out there. Sorry my terminology wasn't clear.

Take it easy dude. If you are on a Ford forum and someone trashes a new F-150 review, you'll get the same response. It's just an Internet forum.

The people that own a Note don't agree with any of the trash some reviewers are banging out on their keyboard. Ever hear of the phrase "straight from the horses mouth"?

And no, three is nothing wrong with calling a product crap, but at least call a spade a spade. It's an Samsung Android tablet, right? Shouldn't all the reviews then be calling all Android Samsung tablets crap? They are all the same. And it is unprofessional when you can't give an unbiased, mature review. You really think any of the bloggers are professional?

I think you are the one living in an interesting world; one of you own.

Here are some random thoughts...

Design: Not exactly premium feel or look. So what...I had the same feelings about my GS3 but I got over it very quickly because I realized that I chose the GS3 and am choosing the Note 10.1 for overall performance, features, functionality, customizability and speed.

Screen: Not exactly retinal display but not bad. Considering the digitizing technology in conjunction with the S-Pen, it was a good compromise. The Note 10.1 comes with Gorilla Glass. The size is quite generous at 10.1 which, IMO, also makes up for the resolution issue.

Camera: It would have been nice to have an 8MP RFC with 1080p full HD video. However, let's be honest. You are more likely to take a picture or shoot video with your GS3 smartphone primarily because it will be more accessible and more likely to be on your person.

IMO, we should be focusing on a discussion about the device both pros and cons. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. The Note 10.1 with TouchWiz and ICS bring a great deal to the table that help it out stand a cut above its competition.

If someone has negative comments, bring them on and have them based in fact and not conjecture. It is up to the consumer to drive the product offering and development and not let the manufacturer determine what and how we want our devices. Let's be wolves and not sheep.

Nicely said, my thoughts are that the features that are less than state of the art are a very worthwhile compromise to keep the 10.1 from costing a small fortune. Last night, I had a friendly sympathetic Samsung tablet customer support person on the phone. Some small suggestions I passed along to him for sending up through the channels are these:
I would like flexibility in being able to delete aps both from the tablet and from the S pen menu. I also suggested they'd have put the icons for back/home/etc. in the same place as the 5.3 to make it easier for those of us who have both. Plus, while gorilla glass might have made it heavy, I wonder if it would have been worth it. Oh darn, I forgot to tell him what my biggest wish was for both my Notes, I'd like them to scream at me if they get moved more than several feet away from the S pen laying down somewhere! I am forever leaving my pen wherever I used it last and am always unpleasantly surprised when I reach for it and find the holder area empty!

Those are the very minor things I'd change, and in my humble point of view, both Notes score 9.8 out of ten, at least!

I am sure that with JB that Samsung will tweak TouchWiz to accomodate and augment the device functionality.

You are starting to be a PITA on this particular topic. Everytime I come across one of your posts, it is negative and trying to start something. If you don't like the Note, then that's fine. But you don't have to try to bring down the excitement of those who are happy with it. Simply state your issues with it, and allow others to either agree or disagree. Feel free to build your case, but you can't just break everyone else's down without ever providing insight as to SPECIFICALLY why you might disagree. That isn't how it works.

Actually no, you didn't. You don't get credit without doing the work.

I am saying I want to hear why you have your personal vendetta against the Note, and therefore everyone who likes it. It's obvious that you are a huge Apple fan cause in the posts i've read, you've immediately brought up the iPad and the iPhone 5. So tell me why specifically you do not like the Note. You have yet to do that, but obviously you dislike it or you wouldn't be bringing everyone down who is excited about it.

For my side of it, I will tell you why I like it better than the iPad. It's because I need something like this for school that is designed for note taking, and annotating PDF's and eTextbooks. The S-pen makes that experience head and shoulders above ANYTHING the iPad offers. It may not have better screen resolution or build quality, but it is certainly not lacking in either category and it is perfect for what I need.

I understand you salivate while reading negative reviews, and then turn and regurgitate their statements, but I want to hear what has caused you to have such a distaste for the Note in YOUR firsthand use of the device. Otherwise, you are not qualified to make statements on the matter. If I had never used an iPad, I would never talk it up or bring it down.

Did I ever say I agreed with the reviews? No.

What I said was that some of you were dismissing negative reviews simply because they were negative. The note is peculiar and a niche product. Personally, the note would not do anything better for me that I can't already do with an iPad, and wouldn't be worth the trade-offs.
