Hey guys,
How are you all on this fine Saturday?
Yes, here you have it. Another thread asking whether upgrading to the latest device is worthwhile.
Here is the twist though, I am currently cruising on the HTC One M7.

How did I hold onto a phone for 2 years? *gasps and shock fill the room*.
To be honest it was easy. With the front facing speakers, Sense UI which just makes sense and a nice 4.7 form factor it was easy and still is.
However, for the last 3 months my camera has come down with the purple hue disease. A camera is not the most important feature of a smartphone to me but it is up there in the top 10.
If it wasn't for this purple hue, I would not be looking at a new phone at all as it still runs like the first day out of the box *hugs sense* with no lag in the UI.

There are just a few things I would like to know from other HTC enthusiasts before considering the M9.
1. Are the issues with the Snapdragon 810 over heating is true?
2. Are the front facing speakers still as loud and crisp as the M7?
3. Do you see any stutter or lag in the Sense UI?
4. Other than themes, has Sense really seen that much more of an improvement over 2 years?
5. Handling a 4.7 inch form factor phone and going to a 5 inch is it really that much bigger?

If anyone can enlighten me, I would be truly thankful.
In the end, I am really just wondering if I can hold of on the M9 and just wait for the M10. By that time the snap dragon processors should be blitzing again and the devices wont be running that troublesome lollipop version.

I came from where you are so I understand the question. I also think it's funny that like me your purple issue developed late in the life of your M7. If what everyone was complaining about was what I was seeing I have to ask myself how was there any question about could this be normal like I was seeing early on in the discussions. Anyway to your questions...

1. I have noticed the phone getting a little hot. Once I was running an app that required some to complete and found that not only did the phone heat up but it stopped taking a charge. Once I unplugged it and allowed it to cool down it seemed fine but that was kind of scary. So far it hasn't appeared to be anything device threatening, but you may want to wait for other opinions on that.

2. Actually they are slightly louder, but still not pre speaker blown scare loud like the M7 had been. Personally I would just go into a store and compare them side by side, because you'll want to put your hands on one before committing anyway.

3. No lag at all. It is so much smoother and faster than the M7, which I never noticed any issue with when I owned it, but going back now OMG, there is such a difference.

4. I would have to say not really. You will probably notice some of the changes, but most of the changes are similar to the ones you probably got recently with the Sense update. Honestly between the two, the Sense update for the M7 and the Sense version that came on the device I haven't noticed much. Maybe a few more themes for the updated version, or at least not the warning that a theme may not perform as well on an older version.

5. Again you are going to want to put one in your hand for this. For me I barely notice any difference, that could be because the M9 is thinner, I have big hands anyway, any number of things, but it really didn't seem to be much of an issue for me. What I noticed more than the size change was the weight change. The M9 is so much lighter. I barely know i have it in my pocket. I keep checking that I have it.

I never had the M7. But the M9 has been absolutely fantastic. Having owned the S6 and G4 the M9 has been the best of the group for me. So much so I was shocked myself.

I have had the phone for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed. Everytime I use it I am shocked and how fluid this device is.

In regard to girl cAmera both the G4 and S6 are much better but for the the M9 serves my needs.

Speed on the device HD excellent. No lag for me. Everything is super smooth especiAlly when typing which both previous phones had issues with.

Battery has been good for me as well. It lasts me the day with moderate use. So no issues there. It's not a battery that will last you for days but for moderate use it should last you all day no problems.

Best of luck on your decisions. This has been the best phone I have owned so far. I would go with others have stated and try one in store and get a feel for it on your own.
