I travel quite a bit. My car doesn't have Bluetooth. My phone is on the dashboard. How can I answer the phone by voice? I don't want to be distracted by reaching for the phone to answer it. Thanks.

Even if you could answer hands free without Bluetooth, how are you going to turn on the phone speaker to hear the caller without touching the phone?

Good question. I'll work on that. Step 1 will be to answer it. Any ideas?

It is written in law in increasing number of jurisdictions that forbids call and text without hands free devices. Some even tried to go further to ban any call or text even with hands free devices. So, it is naturally not a thing Google is interested in adding to its voice assistant.

Your best bet is investing in some Bluetooth handsfree devices.

You could as an option use Google Assistant to return the call

Strange. I can, with Assistant, say "Call Steve" and the Pixel makes the call. Why can't the Assistant answer the call?

Get something like this. Not only is it hands free to solve that concern, but this one has voice activated answering.

That's the one I use and is awesome in every way. Not all of their models have voice activation, so read the descriptions before buying a cheaper/older version. Even on headsets without voice activation, pressing the power button will answer and end calls.

That's the one reason I haven't got rid of my Moto x pure edition.... Moto voice. When I turned it on it would read out over the speaker phone who was calling, and ask me if I wanted to answer the call, dismiss it, or send a message letting them know I couldn't talk at the moment. It basically let me do everything, and I mean everything by voice. It blows Google Assistant, Siri, and Cortana out of the water in the hands free department. Too bad Moto moved away from that version of Moto voice in it's newer devices. That's the main reason I won't own any more Moto phones, that and their complete lack of fulfilling promised updates for their phones.

Answer phone

Can I have ASSISTANT ANSWER THE PHONE AND TURN ON THE SPEAKER. THANKS

Re: Answer phone

Please stop remaking threads for no reason. You ask questions.. get responses.. then seem to just make a new thread. It makes no sense.

Threads merged. since they're both basically about the same thing.

Re: Answer phone

can i have assistant answer the phone and turn on the speaker. Thanks

No you can't as everyone here has already told you. If you want that feature you bought the wrong phone..... so I suggest you buy a different phone.

Is that clear enough for you?

This thread was created for involvement of the Assistant. I'd be happy to have the speaker turned on automatically without having to turn it on manually.
