I searched but didn't get any answers...

How easy is it for an Android to get a virus? Should I run an Anti-Virus software on the Bolt? And what Anti-Virus do you recommend? TIA :)

In my opinion, common sense rules... don't download "shady" apps with names like "Make $10 million dollars a day" or "Sexy korean hermaphrodites" and you should be fine. I also like to read through a page or two of reviews before installing an app.

Lol noted. Then I will definitely not be downloading those apps *scratches them off the list of to purchase* Thanks for the help :)

If you should decide on an antivirus/security app, look at Lookout. Err, no pun on that :0
It also has other tools, some depending on whether its paid of not, but will work fine with the free version.

+1 I should have mentioned this. If you DO decide to use Antivirus, the consensus seems to be that lookout is quite good, and as PJRed said, it has other useful features as well.

I use Lookout. Not necessarily for its antivirus features, but because it makes locating/locking your phone easy if lost/stolen. I do have it set up to automatically scan every app I download and do a scan once a week Wednesday at 2am (when it'll almost definitely be plugged up and I'll be asleep).

But really, the chances of getting a virus are remote. If you're downloading pirated apps, maybe. If you're downloading shady apps, maybe. If you're the kind of person that never checks the reviews on a product and never checks to make sure that the app isn't taking more permissions than it ought to need, then maybe. But it's very, very unlikely... and unlike what most people say, Google does filter out malicious apps and will remotely remove them from your phone for you if something slips by.

I had used Lookout in my very early days with Android when I temporarily had LG Ally and I had found it to be a battery drain. Maybe I had not customized its settings to conserve battery.
So does it really drain battery?

Not that I can see. I think the display and 3G radio (I don't have 4G) far overshadow any drain from Lookout. I don't use the backup feature though...

iv been using lookout on my bolt since day one and I dont really notice it using much batt. last 2 days iv been getting 10-12 hours of mod-heavy use on 4g with lookout always running.

I have AVG and i've been happy with it

no noticeable battery drain, and it scans everything I download to let me know its good

I've been using looking and haven't found it to be a big battery drain. Haven't noticed any difference to be honest. Doesn't mean it's not draining faster, just that I haven't noticed. TO be honest, I started using Lookout thinking I'd be killing it soon after due to slowing down the phone and battery drain and it's been great, don't even notice it's there except when it quickly scans my apps. It's been great.
