Any Atrix Regrets?

Alerts while on a call...

I actually have a few, though I thought I wouldn't. There are a few things that are lacking on android that the iphone had. You can't play any sound at all while on a call. Sometimes I am on a call and need a meeting alarm to go off, the iphone did this without a hitch. I could even change the ringtones while on a call and preview them. I hate motoblur with a passion!
The pentile screen is very noticeable for me. I'm a videophile so I have a talent/curse for finding the smallest issue with visual displays. I think I could get used to the screen, but the alarm not sounding while on a call might be a deal breaker for me. I hate to say it, but I may go back to the iphone.

Regardless this phone is fast, everything is smooth and responsive

This is on my Captivate... should be the same for you since it's an Android setting...

You realize everyone has different requirements for a phone. While to you it's small stuff to someone else it may be a big deal. Might want to think twice before calling people whiners simply because they find things they don't like with a phone THEY paid for. When you pay for their phone feel free to call them whiners. I don't need a microscope to see the fuzzy text or the dithering pattern. The screen on my sisters mytouch 4g looks a lot better than this.

I'm glad you like motoblur... that's great you are happy with the phone. A few others have some issues and it's their right. This whole thread is asking about regrets. So think twice before you post things calling people whiners because they found a flaw in your precious phone.

I'm not looking for a 100% perfect phone and I doubt anyone else is. We are all looking for a phone that has the features we need most.

That's exactly it...the stuff some people are saying is *NOT TRUE*. I have 40/20 vision and considered being a pilot when I was told I fit the bill physically by my superiors (in the Air Force)... and I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is no "fuzzy text" unless you're viewing a website that uses text that was specifically *made* fuzzy. The text is crystal clear even when the phone is 2in from my face. On top of it, there's also no visible dithering pattern. I'm coming from an iPhone 4 (hell of a lot better screen than the MyTouch -- about 175% the pixel density) and the difference in the screen is almost not noticeable at all. I'm a severe videophile and holding them up side-by-side shows no difference except for slight color differences. Stop blowing it out of proportion.

The other thing is apparently how "destructive" Motoblur is to you people. If you configure everything right Motoblur doesn't even get in the way at all...Yes, there are apps that bring together Messaging and Calendars and whatnot, but you guys realize you don't have to use them, right? All of the individual messaging apps are there and are almost spot-on identical to the standard Android apps, with no limitations. Install LauncherPro or ADW Launcher and never think about Motoblur again (if that's what you want). Right now I'm using LauncherPro and Motoblur sits in the background using around 22Mb of RAM and 0% CPU at all times. It's not doing a single thing and it's not in the way at all...considering even after playing games, browsing the internet, using multiple apps, and watching videos...I currently have "255Mb+245Mb in 30" available.

What I'm saying is that it's simple to replace Motoblur with a better launcher and then *never* worry about it again.

From what i have been reading here people are nick picking about the small stuff.. Alot of whiners no phone is ever going t0 be 100% perfect for anyone. The screen is stunning unless you have a microscope to look at every inch of it to see every pixel . Its like people who say they can tell a difference with a 10 dollar hdmi cable and a 150 dollar cable you can't with the human eye. The phone is fast packed with alot of features the motoblur is good i think it is way better then the captivate i have here and a 1000x better then my iphone 3g

i think most people are disappointed because the phone is not quite as advertised. First off, 4g in the name is laughable and I'm actually being nice about it by using the term laughable. I'm in one of the few areas that is HSPA + ready and i haven't seen speeds that are any better than the iPhone 4. Granted I was getting around 5 mbps download and 1 up on the iphone 4 as AT&T is very strong here in Dallas. What is concerning with the Atrix and all of the AT&T android phones is their treating Android devices like stepchildren. Why on a phone they advertise as 4g would they cripple HSUPA? I'm getting 1 mbps upload on my Droid X on VZW's ancient 3g network while on my wife's Atrix I just bought I cap out around .4 upload on AT&T's "4g".

Most of the problems are AT&T related. My only slight complaints with the phone are the yellowish hue on the screen and the UI. It reminds me alot of my stock Droid X before I rooted it and customized it. That's not a bad thing, but if you are used to the iPhone or HTC sense most people probably will not like it.

I checked and I don't have that option. Thanks for the suggestion.

Then maybe you should have your eyes rechecked. I see it and that's what matters to me. You don't and that's fine for you, but i don't care about what you do or don't see. You didn't pay for my phone... I did. You also didn't pay for everyone else's phone. So if you don't like their opinions then move along. The Iphone 4 has the best screen out of any smartphone out right now. What I said was the mytouch 4g (think it's a super LCD screen) is much better than the atrix screen.
I'm coming from an Iphone 3g, so obviously the atrix blows my old phone out of the water in performance. That said, certain features on the iphone I prefer. Albeit they are small ones and for the most part probably insignificant to the majority of people, but I didn't buy a phone to please others. It's nice to see android has the same crazy fanboys that apple does.

You don't "replace" motoblur. You put another launcher ON TOP OFF motoblur. It's still there, taking up resources. Some people don't like that and some do. I personally wouldn't care as long as it has no impact on my battery or performance, but I'm not everyone.

Regardless my wife and I will probably be taking our atrix phones back and either sticking with our slow iphone 3g's or getting iphone 4's.
To those that enjoy the phone... congrats! It's speedy and I'm sure it will last a while. :)

That's very true. I believe even AT&T has said that they were able to achieve 6Mbps on their HSPA+. Which for a lot is not that big a jump from their iphone 4's. It also doesn't help that the upload is crippled. When I run speed tests I see the upload jump to 2Mbps and instantly get capped to 300-400. I compare the speeds to my iphone 3g and for the most part I get a slightly higher upload.

I find that video playback on the Atrix has a heavy red push or tint. I've compared with my Iphone4, Captivate, and Inspire only the Atrix is negatively impacted.

For text and web browsing, I find the screen is excellent. It's only the video playback that bothers me.

So I think the phone is great. I too reget not fixing my google contacts before hand. It imported pretty much every email adress I have ever made contact with.

My other minor gripe is that the phone always says AT&T even when I am roaming. I live in Tijuana and sometimes I am on AT&T and sometimes I am on a Mexican network, this affects how I have to dial phone numbers to reach people. If the phone always says AT&T I don't know which network I am really on.

Anyone else find the LT Dock to be a little cramped? I keep fat fingering keys and of course there is no way that could be a (an?) user error. I am sure it's just matter of getting used to it.

Just picked mine up. The four capacitive buttons on the bottom are off-white rather than white like I thought they'd be. Anyone else's like this? It's quite noticeable. But I don't mind enough to ask for an exchange or anything. :) No dead pixels that I can see, woohoo! THAT would be an exchange thing for me.

No time to play with the phone quite yet as I'm going to be late for Chemistry Lab, so I'll have to set it down for now.

I remember when people used to rate phones on call quality and battery life! :)

LOL! Ah the good ol' days.

I remember back in my youth when I use to have to climb a mountain to get to school, we were just happy if the phone dialed. :p

Have you seen the Galaxy S screen? It stops ANY smartphone's screen, and if some ****** says the epic... its the same screen

I have and I wasn't that impressed. It's still a pentile screen and sadly for me I notice it. I am very curious as to the screen in the S2. If the plus means they got rid of the pentile matrix then that would be amazing.

Any one having a problem with yahoo email? I cant get that email imported into my phone but my hotmail is.. my password is correct and email is word for word. I logged onto yahoo from my laptop and it worked so my pass isn't messed up.

The other thing I'm upset about is I cant do custom notification tones. Like I cant make my music or downloaded "droid" sound be set for text messages, which i certainly could do for my POS backflip

Ill agree.. i think the s2 should be something to check out.. personally I was impressed with the galaxy's.. mostly with the vividness.. maybe a little blurry around the edges but defiantly made things pop and i can only imagine would be awesome for watching videos. Im going to a HQ vid on my atrix now to see how it looks.

I've been playing with this thing for the past couple of hours. I'm posting this using the multimedia dock in webtop mode connected to the HDMI input of a TV and a usb keyboard and mouse connected to the dock. It would be nice if it had HDMI mirroring, but otherwise no complaints so far.

My biggest complaint so far is the screen quality, crispness clearness. I figured I just got a bad one so I went to the local AT&T store to compare. Sadly the phone just isn't as clear as others I have tried\used. Now I see no need to tell you about my eye sight history or get a doctors note explaining how perfect my eyes are. I am simply stating my opinion. As it has been posted everyone has their own perception. This is mine.

Though i can't believe people are really paying $500 for a screen and keyboard...
