Any Damagecontrol final realease thoughts

I have a Sprint HTC Hero stock 1.5. My goal is to update to 2.1 and root. I have read damagecontrol is pretty much stable and basic with increased battery life. That's all I really need as I'm not a techie and only want to have to wipe the phone once. Does anyone have thoughts on DC in general and from going from stock 1.5 right to the final release of DC? Thanks in advance.

I wasn't happy with the final release. The HoneyBun ROM's work well.

Once the Vuv2 Kernel came out 2.09.01 Works flawless with my phone. I absolutely love it. I have tried lots of Rom's and the 2 best for me and my needs are Honeybun and DC 2.09.01. My battery life is great with the undervolt kernel and the DC Rom. I just hit 70%, I've been up since 5am it is now 3pm and I've used the phone a few times prob 30 mins talk time or so, as well as check my email etc. I also only get 2 or so bars where I'm at and notice in places where I get perfect service my phone lasts a really long time.
