I've already done some researches on KickStarter's projects. It's really not easy to create a successful project there. Sure, everyone who has an idea can put one up. But a successful one, before it's even posted to KickStarter, almost always has something to show to the potential followers already. In the very least, if we want to bring this dream to the reality, before we create a KickStarter, we need to assemble a barebone team that can at least show some progress has already been made.

I still love this idea. If some well known Android names (Cyanogen, XDA devs, unrEVOked) were behind this, it would go somewhere. There seem to be plenty of very talented software hackers I would like to see on this "board." I have no idea who could be a font-man on the hardware side, but there must be some people.
If they put together a group in Kickstarter, people would flock to it. They would get tons of geek press, no question. I would definitely donate seed money. I would wonder what manufacturer would make it for you, though. Would htc? Maybe. Would Samsung or Moto, probably not. I smell collusion to agree NOT to make it.
Then, would the carriers really activate it? Verizon has said they will activate ANY device that conforms to their network requirements.
CDMA/GSM 3G/LTE/WIMAX. 4" or 4.3". Dual Core. Front and rear cameras. Would be awesome. I would be so on board with this.
SAVE ANDROID! Give it the future it deserves!

Moto Nexus 3 with the new Hitachi screen. that would be so sick. not sure about the screen being 4.5 inches though, thats a little big. love the size of my Incredible's screen

I put my words up front. If we can gather a team, I am willing to put down some funds to get the project up and running. May be a thousand or two. I am not a rich person, so it won't be much -- hopefully some other people could also donate. I can also provide free web hosting off my server (I have redundant bandwidth from my cloud server plan.)
The chance a big name manufacturer building this next to zero. Our run will probably be quite small (even if we can sell "thousands", it's a very small run.) Again, I've done some researches, our best chance is to get a smaller company like Meizu to build for us. The best scenario will be getting the interest of the company and actually invest into the project.
Again, chance is pretty slim. Yes, Verizon has said that, but so far, how many devices have your see them certified? Plus, it's very likely that they will only certify it for the 3G network (I somehow recall that they have never said they will certify it for LTE.) The biggest problem here is that the carriers ALWAYS want to mess with their devices. May be taking out functions that they want to charge separately (Wifi tethering), or installing bloated software from their networks.
So, it's not an easy problem to work around. In the worst case, we may have to build something that only acts as a Wifi only device and rely on a Mifi-like device to provide the connection. If that's the case, two things need to be done:
1) We need to create an app to do VOIP
2) We need to find a way to distribute Google's app legally (the outlook is not too grim on this one, if Google is really so supportive to open source project)
Another possibility may be to build something that only works with T-mobile/AT&T. I think you can use their network as long as you can put in a SIM (that's why an AT&T iPhone can work on T-mobile.) Not sure if that works for their 4G network, though. I've never used T-Mobile and AT&T, so I couldn't tell for sure.
Anyway, if you are interested, spread the words. Hopefully, someone with the skills to pull this off will be attracted and we can gather a team to pursue our dream!
