I keep hearing Android boost the performance of these devices through the roof. Sprint said in July they would have a update to 2.2. I have seem some showing other phones running 2.1 and 2.2 on the same model, and the 2.2 won hands down. I would like to see the difference between Evo running 2.1 and running 2.2

Sprint online chat told me, at the store, several news articals. Sprint Reps responding to post in Sprint forums said it to. They wanted 2.2 to start with, but it was not done by the time they has to start physically making the phones. So they got 2.1. July, 2.2

I know that HTC plans to have a 2.2 update by the end of the year, but I haven't seen anything that sets a date for that update.

Im sure they want to roll out 2.1 before Gingerbread rolls out in Q4.

Woah... lots of lies?

I don't recall hearing of any of this information.

what're you referring to? The Google i/o keynote presentation on the froyo clearly shows numerous times a comparison of 2.2 vs 2.1 and Apple iPad. If I recall correctly, 2.2 browser laps (literally) the competition.

I have read a few other mumblings of such (can't remember where). It actually does make sense. They have had to have these ready to be shipped a few months ago. Probably didn't want to push back their launch date. Maybe they (HTC/Sprint) are keeping it under wraps until after the iPhone launch. Most of the delays with Sprint/HTC has been 1.X to 2.x, it could be they are anticipating a quick turnaround.

Isn't there rumors Google is going to make some announcement afterwards as well?

I'll go on record to speculate that we'll get 2.2 right around the time the next gen iPhone goes on sale (you know...Apple will announce on June 7th and then release a month later - like they always do) maybe even a day or 3 before. :) So July sounds just right.

Strategy....it's all strategy.

The Google i|o presentation used Nexus Ones for the browser speed test. No one has seen a fully functional EVO running Froyo yet (except perhaps Google, HTC or xda-developers).

Don't confuse things here.
