Any first time Android (HOX) users that switched from iPhone?

I switched from my iPhone 4s to a HTC One X a few days ago. I have always been a die hard iPhone user, so this is huge for me. LOVE a few things about the HTC like cursor thing to add to text, love SWIFT KEY for texting. Photos are good, but having trouble getting them on my mac. I did find something called SALLING SOFTWARE for putting my iTunes music and photos on my HTC. I have 30 days to decide, and it is proving to be a very tough decision. The screen size is amazing!
Biggest concern is getting all the pics I take on to my mac. Anyone figured out how to deal with this?
Im really enjoying my HTC, just want to be sure I can transfer stuff to my computer before I decide for sure.

HTC has its own tool to allow you to transfer files to and from the computer. I use dropbox to back all my pictures back to my computers both my mac and windows machine. It works flawlessly. You could also try setting your phone as a mass storage device if you want to do it manually. Also for the music you could try double twist. It is free unless you want other advance features.

Had an iPhone4 for about 2 months when it first came out and didn't like it but other than that have been a BlackBerry user (Curve 8310, Curve 8900, Bold 9700, Bold 9900) and just moved to the HOX a week ago. Takes some time getting used to not having a physical keyboard and the multitasking is kind of disappointing but other than that love it.

Not a mac user but why not automatically upload pictures to Dropbox and pull that up on your mac?

For those who just switched from iPhone ios 5 to HOX, make sure your iPhone is not connected to wifi and removed as an authorized device in iTunes, or you may not receive sms messages from your iPhone friends on your HOX, they may instead go as iMessages to your old iPhone.

biggest things that i hate about the one x switching from iOS:

1. syncing my information was much more troublesome than i thought. very tedious and had to do many things in a roundabout way to get everything set up properly. If you are not using google services already, its going to be a pain to set it all up. but it is worth it since youre using a google device.

2. landscape mode. omfg. maybe its just my HOX but landscape mode for most apps is unusable. freezes my phone sometimes. so damn buggy.

3. headphones with remotes do not work properly with android.

4. the settings can be confusing as hell to navigate.

5. I really miss the mute switch and rotation lock.

6. not really a hate but the size of the screen is something i have to get used to. lovely screen though.

7. I always believed widgets were the best thing about android. But after using the widgets, they are not really all that. the most useful ones are the weather and music widgets.

8. One thing that apple does very well that android does not, apples devices are ready to use right out of the box. no need to configure every little damn thing.

9. The lag. The lag. THE LAG! ICS is still so laggy. it has nothing on iOS and the smoothness of the interface. I know jellybean will come out but for 90% users who will not root and install a custom rom, its really annoying. and they will have to wait a year for their device to be updated by htc.

10. last negative about the HOX is the speaker. for a high end top of the line device, the speakers arent even as loud as my iphone 4 was. Big disappointment.

But all that said, I still like the HOX. Would exchange for a better working model if some of the problems are hardware. otherwise, I will root when there is a working root for 1.85 and install a custom rom.

and if anyone has any remedies to any of those things above, please let me know :)

ive tried it already. the servers are not on anymore.

but ill try again if anyone has had success within the past couple of days

Are you getting any errors? Make sure to manually move your clock ahead in order to inititate the check for updates.

Just turn iMessage off in the settings under "messages" and you're good to go.

yeah, i am getting errors. The first thing the script says is "server is not on". or something like that.

and then it says it cant find directory of blah blah blah. then says waiting for reboot. i think it might be on atts end. but ill try again. ive tried moving the clock/date up but still the same message.

I have just traded my 4s for a HOX and I am satisfied. I am still learning how to use the back button among other things but other than that I love it.

Any one know how to make texts/emails show up on the screen when the phone is locked?

I turned my iPhone 4 into my iPod and got the X and it's been a good run. I did a ton of tweaking, rooting and unlocking buy pure ICS rules. Just does. JB is suppose to be "butter" compared to ICS so I can't wait to load that ASAP.

One thing you have to check out is Google Music. I tried iTunes Match and had my songs matched to clean versions of my music. Google Music isn't flawless but it works so much better since you actually upload your music. And you can do this anywhere.

Also the Car & Navigation apps are outstanding. Nobody does Maps like Google and the experience surpassed my expectations. Little creepy but it got me everywhere with ETAs and all.

I do miss Reminders with the location based alerts, something Tasks doesn't do yet. I am sure there is an app out there but I'd like to see Google to include it.

There is something about the apps though. I miss Tweetbot the most but Plume is good and this new Tweet Lanes is promising. Flipboard gives me hope too.

I tried a Droid X two years ago and then Verizon couldn't port my phone number over. No phone or text for a week but I did download a few apps then and Android has come a long ways. I would have kept that phone but because of the carrier I jumped back to AT&T and got the new iPhone 4. But the change is noticeable and the hardware of the One X won me over. Perfect size.

iOS is a strong platform but Android is ready for prime time. The Google Play store works like a wireless iTunes. Chrome syncs all your tabs. Gmail is a solid app as well. Those are critical apps for us expats. Im loving it and might even get a Nexus 7 next. Need a hands in first....

I can't understand how so many people list things that Android/Sense do differently to iOS as a negative thing... Come on! Of course they are different, but that's no point in favor or against any of the two. Different design philosophies, that's all. A WP or Android user could say the exact same thing about an iPhone.

In addition, how can anyone complain about the transition from Apple to Google services? Again, that's nothing to do with Android being better or worse, it's just a matter of transitioning from one platform to another. I use Google services mostly, but if I had to move to Apple it would also be a pain... so what? That does not make the iPhone better/worse.

I can't help but feel that a lot of people posting here are still not getting the most out of their device, or simply don't want to recognize the countless limitations in an iPhone. Nobody seems to remember what a total waste it was to use iTunes? Its limitations in terms of machines, the fact that it has to be installed, updated so many times that it's not even funny... How about the dreaded cable? In contrast, nobody seems to mention the amazing thing that Google Play is? How about tools like AirDroid? How about music players that can do everything like PlayerPro... try saving lyrics to music or changing album art on iOS... What a pain, totally un-intuitive! PlayerPro allows all this straight from the device, it's incredible!

On top of that, I think the best thing about Android is its openness. I can be confident that no apps will be banned for no reason (VLC, Flash), no services will disappear out of the blue (Google Maps) and application specialization will continue. In Android things are open for improvement, so launchers, lock screens, keyboards, audio and video players, just to name a few, are designed by people who focus solely on that. As a result, Swiftkey 3, just to give an example, is leaps and bounds better than the iPhone keyboard. Competitiveness is real, so Dolphin is actually allowed to release a better, faster browser than Google, and the same applies to Opera or Firefox.

Last but not least, enough with the smoothness already, please!... The fact that people consider the smoothness of a scrolling menu important is beyond me. It's a smartphone, not a toy.

Google Play is underrated. Its wireless iTunes on PEDs. Google should be marketing Play WAY more. If iPhone users knew? Seriously..

Probably the only thing i miss about iPhone after switching would be the apps that I bought. Im kind of a nerd and iPhone really isnt for my people. lol..

The one thing i hated about android was battery life.. but with the Juice defender plus (1.99) im getting over 2 days of battery life easily.. and iphone couldnt do that..

and i was not liking the tiny screen..
