Any good 3rd party batteries?

I can't find legitimate g4 batteries and the trend-on ones on Amazon don't seem to last anywhere near as long as the stock one. Anyone know where to buy oem ones? ( my carrier store doesn't sell them) Or the extra battery pack they had the promotion for?

Piggybacking on to the OP, are there any extended batteries that have the same footprint as the OEM standard battery? I haven't encountered any for the G4, but have purchased them previously for my BlackBerrys and for my wife's Galaxy S3 (and maybe for her current S5).

I don't want anything that requires its own case (and a wheelbarrow) to use.

A buddy of mine with a S4 Note got a hi-capacity battery off Ebay and said it much better than the OEM battery he go with the phone. I own a G4 but I am thinking about getting a 4280mAh 3rd party battery. There are several 3rd party Hi-Cap direct replacement but make sure you G4 model # matches the battery you get since there are different G4 battery by model number.

I don't think it should matter what carrier/model # we have, should it? For example, here's another listing that lumps them together, without a selection option to choose:

So I'll play the skeptic card here... If some third party can pack an extra 30% capacity into the same battery footprint and presumably make money selling it for $19, why wouldn't LG, who could make this battery or buy it significantly cheaper, include it with the phone?

I just don't see how this could be the same quality as an official battery.

I've found that the batteries for sale on amazon/ebay are actually knockoffs ( if you check the reviews for many of them, they show differences between the OEM ones that shouldn't exist as they just make 1 version of the batteries and even the recently produced phones still have the same batteries as mine do etc).

Keep an eye on it and test it with a heavy load for the first few days. Almost all cell phone fires involve a third party battery!

While that's probably true, there do seem to be genuine OEM spare batteries available from sellers on amazon and ebay. I bought a combination of battery, charger and spare OEM USB cable from a seller in Korea (on ebay) and as far as I can tell, these are are all genuine LG parts, no knockoffs. It came packaged in what appears to be genuine LG packaging and branding, the only difference being that the product description and regulatory labels are in Korean. The performance of the spare battery is identical to the original that came with the phone. I'm happy to add a link to the seller if anyone's interested.

Thanks. I'm taking a wait and see attitude. I agree with your skeptical outlook, but hold out a little hope it may offer a bump. For less than 20 bucks shipped it was worth it to me to find out for sure.

I got the trend on. It has odd discharging rates and lasts less than the stock battery. I average about 2 hours of straight gaming with stock but only about 1.5hrs with the trend on.

It was only $13 though. Real stock lg ones are $25 when on sale. So I'm fine with it lol

I was giving the Sporting Persistence extended battery a full 3 weeks before reporting back. There are still a few more days to go, but the short and a bit early answer is, meh.

The G4 seems to struggle with the calibration. That is, I plug in the phone at 40-something percent battery, and it is beeping at 100% in a half hour. Stuff like that doesn't seem right.

GSAM says I have a hair more overall battery than what I had most recently with the OEM battery, but fairly negligible, especially since the SoT is unchanged or maybe even a bit less...and the whole thing is questionable given the odd charge rate. I'm guessing my overnight charge is a full 100%, and any charge during the day that says its 100% usually isn't. This is somewhat odd to me since the bigass extended batteries seem to be recognized by the G4 just fine.

On the bright side, no overheating at all, no wonkiness in functionality overall, no spontaneous reboots, or any other problems with the function of the G4.

I feel like I saved a bit of money on an OEM level battery (in battery life).

So, as I posted in this thread http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/602255-my-final-word-g4-battery-life.html, my last OEM battery stats had 14 H 9 M overall, and 5 H 51 M of SoT.

Looks like I lost about a half hour of SoT to gain a bit more than an hour of overall battery life. Which, of course, I could have done with the OEM battery!

I know this is an old post but I'm looking for another spare or two (I already have 2 LG brand and would like to save few bucks on a quality 3rd party).
So to answer your ? the reason 3rd parties can make as good or even higher quality batteries (or anything else) as OEM is because they don't have the overhead like advertising (saves millions right there), R&D (Let LG do the research & design then just duplicate it for less right?). So I think you get the idea. Now we know many on eBay for example (most of my shopping is eBay but only from sellers with 99 or higher rating and never a problem) make & sell junk, heck it may satisfy those that are not as particular as myself and most here.

I save a fortune buying "Defender" type phone cases on ebay for under $10 for my wife and teen kids and these things are bullet proof, trust me my family is tough on electronics.

I always purchase the best when it comes to electronics (and pretty much everything else) but I don't hesitate to purchase a 3rd party accessory if it gets high reviews from multiple sources. As an example I have been a Nikon shooter for decades using Nikon only everything then started reading and doing a lot of research on the top 3rd party lenses (Tamron, Tokina & Sigma). Most of my research showed that Tamron and Tokina met and mostly exceeds Nikon in build quality and performance on the lenses that I purchased (fast f2.8 zooms). I came close to purchasing a Sigma 150-600S lens which is a real winner but very. Instead I went with the lighter and much less expensive Tamron 150-600mm and it has exceeded my expectations in build & performance.

Sorry I know I'm going off topic, don't mean to hijack this thread just making points that may help others down the road.
I'm going to read all these replies (I haven't read them yet and may be redundant here). and hopefully come across and good aftermarket battery for my V10. I have found some very good highspeed 2x USB chargers for our Android & iphones that work perfect and were cheap. Also some aftermarket multi device chargers that plugs into vehicle charger port and provides 3-4 additional ports for phones, gps & radar detectors (I use all 3 at the same time) and also has few highspeed 2x usb phone chargers.

So long story short = there are lots of companies make great accessories for your $$$ stuff. Start by reading the reviews on amazon (I filter by 4 stars & up) then I do a little external comparison shopping on eBay.

Me too, I do it all the time on ebay just purchase from sellers with a 99 or higher rating and no problems, they work hard to keep that rating.
