I'm very frustrated with this phone release. I have a line due for an upgrade July 2nd. According to the corporate store in my area, I could walk in there July 1st and use the upgrade. Of course, they don't have any in stock and now tell me they don't expect any until July 11th. I called AT&T, which gets me to the Premier Customer Support. They don't go by the same rule of letting someone upgrade any day in the month they are due. As a matter of fact, they say if my upgrade date is July 2nd, I can't use it until the 3rd! (WTF?) Of course, they would be happy to order one for me, but they were going to charge me $299 even though they wouldn't even be able to get it to me before July 3rd anyway! Losers! Well, I declined that generous offer. I really hate to order a phone without seeing a live one first anyway. At this point, I may just wait until the red one is released and then choose.
By the way, do you guys think the delay is from the lawsuits against Samsung by Apple (one guy at the corp store told me that) or is it just poor supply chain management? I didn't think anything was blocked except the GNex and the Gal Tab 10. Could Apple potentially block the GS3 soon enough to prevent me from getting one? Maybe I won't wait for the red one then!
I went into my local ATT store today and they have no idea when they will have stock. Of course, my experience at this store is most of the people are clueless. Went to the Verizon store to see if they had the GNex updated to Jelly Bean and the guy says, "What's Jelly Bean?".. DOH!
Will keep my fingers crossed the ATT store gets some GS3's soon!
Im guessing the live chat support function is outsourced and they probably have less info than the store folks. When I go thru the process to upgrade a phone and select preorder for the S3, its says 'due today', but when I click to place the order, i get a pop up notice about the device should ship in 10 days.
I tried to place an order in-store tonight at the AT&T store in Providence Place Mall in RI. The female associate was very willing to help, but when she went into the computer it wasn't allowing them to do direct fulfillment orders for the SG III. Another associate then chimed in to say that the system hasn't allowed them to place orders for the past three days. So, I was out of luck and told to call back in a few days to see if the system would allow it to go through.
So today is July 1st. Are the AT&T corporate stores selling them?
Not in south eastern Massachusetts. Physically drove to 3 At&t stores and none had any. One claimed mid-week, one said delayed indefinitely and the other wasn't sure when they would be available.
Interestingly Best Buy has them in their flyer today.
