Hey guys, I'm looking to replace my Blackberry 9700 with an Android device. Right now it looks like the Captivate is the best on AT&T, but before I make the plunge I just wanted to check if anyone knows anything about new devices that can rival it coming to AT&T. I know about the Moto Kobe that is coming down the pipe, but I was just checking to see if there's any phones coming out that rival any of the top phones right now (EVO, Epic, Droid(s), Galaxy S)?

Thanks in advance guys.

+1 for more info. on this topic if anyone is in the know... I was hoping to wait out till December for a device like a GSM version of the EVO (Desire HD?) but am not so sure it will happen, so then is the Captivate may be my best bet for now?.... I am ditching my 2 y/o Bold 9000 and cannot wait to turn 'droid soon.....

There's always something new coming down the 'pike. You can check out BGR.com for the latest news. If you're on ATT, I haven't seen anything that beats the Captivate so far....

Yep, I am on AT&T - so that is why I perked up when I saw the title of
this post... guessing I am going to go the Captivate route unless I can
find a better HTC device soon.... the VZW people are sure getting some nice phones from their carrier this year though... wish AT&T would do same.... but maybe they are and it is just taking a long time....

i wish they would make a gsm droid x i lvoe the build quality of the motorola android devices on vzw (the high end ones droid, droid 2, droid x) or even a nice htc device personally would love a nexus two doubt it will happen but im hoping.

but i just got my captivate yesterday and this thing is amazing so to those of you torn buy it and if ya dont like it return within the 30 days. but trust me you wont want to, im a phone junkie i always have been so if a new high end android device comes out on AT&T in like 5 months ill buy that too :) but if AT&T doesnt warm up to android im jumping ship to vzw or sprint(if their service gets better in my area)

So I hit up my local ATT store mgr tonight with the Q "so what's after the Captivate?", and he said they are getting 2 more Droid devices before Christmas this year, with one being very "high end" and "looking and working a lot like the Evo", esp. with the "WiFi hotspot" feature.... so chalk this up to more rumor, but I think I will wait and see if this is indeed something like the HTC Desire HD/Ace/whatever that is to come soon to GSM-land, and hold off getting the Samsung unit. This same store mgr. leaked me the BB Torch 9800 confirmation about a month before they unveiled it, so I give him just a smidge of credit (but not much more! LOL)

</latest rumor>

I'd like to give Android a shot and am also on AT&T. I'm personally waiting for an Epic type Android because I won't do all touchscreen. The physical keyboard is too important to me. So hopefully we'll start to see some of those show up sometime soon. Maybe it'll be one of those phones we see before the end of the year!

you wont see the epic or a galaxy s on at&t the next likely keyboard android device will most likely be the motorola flipout.

That makes me sad because those phones are ugly. If I wanted something like that I could get a backflip. That makes me sad, but that's probably because of the iPhone, eh?

New Android SmartPhone from AT&T for Christmas, Its so Hot that Santa and Mrs. Claus even pre-ordered one!
AT&T is Calling it:

"I gotch your Money"

New AT&T Android Phones

Droid Central, Wow

Lets see, any new Android Phones for them (AT&T) Rumor is that there is a High End Rev like the Evo coming, but I have a serious concern. And many AT&T customers with 9700's have the same problems I have.

Can you imagine what service would be like with a EVO type device, they cant take care of their 9700 Blackberry Customers right now, everyone is hoping that the OS6 release is going to cure all those problems, and, yes and.....We probably wont see OS6 until they release the Blackberry 9780.

You know what would really be Cool, I can tell you... If they would put AT&T, Verizon, and TMobile in the Ring on WWE RAW!! Then they Put Motorola, HTC, and Samsung in the Ring as well, the winners of the matches on WWE RAW would have a Go at it again, I bet I can predict who would win!!!! Either Verizon or TMO and Motorola-

I have for years been a faithful on time paying customer of AT&T, I have been using Blackberries for ever. Apple Sucks, Steve Jobs should stick his head in a dirty Toilet, and shove Flash up his rear end...Isnt that incredible, he is pissed at Adobe, so his customers cant have Flash. AT&T in the beggining was great to their customers, now they have a group of ******s working there and with their so called Muscle Power "State of the art Customer Service" they are in league with Apple.

AT&T is not interested in doing whats great for their customers, their interested in lining their pockets with our money, Their Customer Service Policies Suck, They are absolutely no help at all when you get a bad phone and have legitamate problems. You Pay for a new phone and if they replace it they replace it with a junk phone-(Ferbie)

At&T has a insatiablle appetite for money, look what they did with Apple,- The are under Contract with Apple on all their products. The Apple Products have a bad impact on AT&T's network for the rest of us non apple users- They Suck up Bandwith Big time, they cause performance issues. AT&T is dedicated to APPLE not us-

What good would it be for AT&T to bring in a Phone like the EVO, it would be like taking a Bugatti or Lamborghini to the local Dairy queen 2 blocks away. They need to be on a track where you can let them rear their heads and let them run loose.

Would you Take your Lamborghini to Midas Muffler? Absolutely not!

AT&T put Handcuffs on their Data Packages, They Limited Us, their most valuable asset, they should have limited Apple not their Customers. AT&T is going to get Squat from me, Im Moving to Verizon, and Im moving to Droid X.

I also didnt say that Verizon is perfect, all the carriers have their difficulties, but Verizon doesnt have Apple, because, Verizon wouldnt allow Apple to become more important to them than their customers are. Verizon remains commited to their customers first.

I hear all these folks jumping up and down wishing Verizon get a IPhone, be careful what you wish for, "The Devil has very sharp teeth" and "Apple has a ROTTEN Core".

Looks like at&t is putting alot of weight behind wp7 so I really see them pushing android this christmas. I'm hoping the desire hd makes its way to att. But seeing that they've kept android pretty much low end don't see anything going high end

Wow, Raid, simmer down. It's gonna be ok.

I am hoping that AT&T has a longer term game plan than we the consumers want. If they had their hearts set on the LTE network being more important than the 3G network then this is what happens. They lag behind for awhile.

As for customer service, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Every time I've ever had to deal with them they've been pleasant and quick. I even had a guy offer me a brand new warranty phone by changing the date on which it broke so I could get it in warranty. So either you're the problem in the scenario or you just deal with bad people.

As for AT&T they'd be stupid to not use Android as a way to make more money. With it's popularity and it's "power to the people" aspect (the fact that it's open source) I think it will be a big smartphone OS from here on out. As for whether they'd go with high end phones with Android, it's hard to say. They're making a lot of money off the other 2 big smartphone OSs (BB and iOS) so they're not as likely to want to adopt Android. Verizon is putting a lot of money into Android, but they still put a lot of money into BB, too. So it's hard to say if we'll see a particularily high end Android (not like the Captivate isn't).
