My phone dropped almost 25% last night on standby. Before BBM it was only 6% over night. That's not good. I have to keep checking but this might need an uninstall once I figure it out. I'll check again tonight.

My battery dropped around 1%-2% every hour last night. Usually it will drop around 5% overnight.

I noticed it. I didn't attribute it to BBM until I saw this post. Dropped over 50% in 9 hours.

Today, 42% in just under 8 hours. I was getting a full 24 to 30 hours before this.

Funny thing was the battery meter said it was the screen on time. I was asleep so wouldn't notice if the screen came on at all. Gonna uninstall and see what happens.

I'm sure it'll go back to normal. My battery life already has. It's not a coincidence that BBM was uninstalled. I knew to check considering the constant data use. It's always connected. Of course battery life will die faster I just didn't think it would be so drastic. I can only imagine other phones with much smaller batteries. I also noticed Google services and Android os was abnormally high when BBM was installed. That's back to normal now too.

Yes I noticed that too. Is there a way to deactivate bbm without installing. It's pretty useless come to think of it most of my contacts are on what's app.

I had it on for two days and then I turned it off and honestly I didn't see any difference in battery drainage. Indeed there is a way to turn it of... go to the bbm settings and where it it says BBM CONNECTED ICON, turn it of..... what that will do is that your are not going to receive the messages in real time only when you open the application.... Since I don't have any one in my list yet I have it turned off ....

Actually that's not completely true. What that does is you receive the messages in real time until the Android os starts to close the oldest stuff to free space up. At least that's how that option is supposed to work. The way to shut it off with uninstalling is to force stop. It's the only way actually.

It's only noticeable most when on standby for extended periods. Like 8 hours for example. Leave it unplugged over night after fully charging. Watch how much drains. My battery went right back to normal after uninstalling.

Battery drain after installing bbm on my note 2
Overnight battery drain by 20-25% on standby. Full charge works for 10 hours max. :( hope they come out with a fix soon!

For me, this option stops the battery drain at least

I know this is a Note 3 thread, but figured I'd chime in, since I noticed the battery drain, as well. I installed it this morning, on my Nexus 4, and instantly noticed the battery draining faster than normal. I already know the Nexus 4 doesn't have the greatest battery life, to begin with. But, the battery drain was obnoxious, to the tune of 3% every 05 minutes.I'm fairly certain, a future update may fix the battery drain and possibly remove the ongoing "notification."

You cab remove the ongoing notification now. No need to wait for an update. Try it see if it works better. But then what's the point of BBM

My battery stayed the same if not better, it's connected but I haven't started messaging anybody. Might change once I do...

Sorry but you are wrong my man ....... number one.......if you have a note3 with 32gbs of memory and 3gbs of ram... Android does not need to close anything because there is no need to free space, unless your phone is so crowed that is already running out of RAM... Second....the way to shut it off, meaning that it is not ON all the time, is to go to the settings and turn off the button BBM CONNECTED ICON.... and if you don't believe me.... do what I say and then go to the home button and see if it shows under active application........... What this will do is that you will receive the message but......... unless you manually open the app, you wont be able to see the message............

Thank you.......that is exactly what I was saying untill SEMP 1 said it was not true................

listen I am just telling you what it is SUPPOSED to do not what it actually does. Also I don't know about you but it is common that my note uses over 2.1gb of ram at times and considering there is only 2.38gb of ram available it not hard. Have you even checked ram usage? Android uses a lot of ram it is the way the OS functions best. But ok.
