Any one notice extreme battery drain on stand by time after installing BBM?

So I use gsam battery monitor and when I had bbm it was reporting approximately 17 he's of battery. I knew my battery wasnt lasting as long so I deleted it and now gsam is reporting approximately 35 hrs battery. So bbm is definitely A battery hog

Does BBM "listen" for messages? I would think any app that does what BBM does would be a substantial user of your battery. I owned a Blackberry years ago, and their push technology was awesome back then. I don't know how they would reduce power consumption unless the settings allowed the user to stop the software for checking for messages.

I don't have a note 3 I have a note 2 and I do not notice any battery drain from BBM

I agree I feel that the difference was bbm was optimized for blackberry so it consumed the proper amount of energy so much like Google talk/hangouts is optimized for android and Imessage for IOS it worked fine on its respective platform. So now you have bbm that is not really optimized for iOS or android it uses more energy than necessary

listen I am just telling you what it is SUPPOSED to do not what it actually does. Also I don't know about you but it is common that my note uses over 2.1gb of ram at times and considering there is only 2.38gb of ram available it not hard. Have you even checked ram usage? Android uses a lot of ram it is the way the OS functions best. But ok.
Yes I have... it uses 1.30 to 1.50 out of 2.38... I have never seen it go up to 2gb..... but again, that is my note....

Charged my new Note 3 Sunday night so I took it off the charger around 8am Monday. Loaded BBM on it around mid day Monday and it is now Tuesday night and after 10 PM and my battery is still at 30%. So it has been off the charger for around 36 hours and well over 24 hours with BBM on it and no problem
