Any one with a Mac and Evo?

I have a Mac and EVO, they both work well together. If you want to sync your gmail address book to the address book on the Mac, then try A to G for Mac, it syncs with gmail well. For iCal, you can sync it with gmail calendar with no additional software, its built in with the iCal. For music and movies, I just drag and drop. I use Handbrake for my movie conversions, again, I haven't had any problems with my movies coming out perfect.

Thanks everyone! The contacts and synchronization issues don worry me. I would use Google sync everything anyways. My contacts and calendars have been for a while. I've been using Double Twist for my Evo. I have a 32GB microSD card in it and all my music is sync'd and I download everything to my phone through amazon or downloading sites. I never hear people with problems with their Pros. Me I've seen the effenblue screen on my HP laptop 3 times in the last 2 weeks, its on its last leg I'd say.

Ok, just read up on this thread. I just want to say that I have a 27" iMac and an EVO and love each device. I like the Mac OS and I like Android. The iOS seems stale to me. I did buy my wife the new iPod Touch and so I took her old iPod Touch 2nd gen. I enjoy the app store on the iOS platform, but it just seems like a toy after handling the EVO everyday. Android is a living, breathing OS.

Anyway, if you are looking into rooting, it's very easy on the Mac with Terminal. Don't really have to mess around with drivers either. I haven't ran into any problems with anything. And it's also nice not to have an iPhone.

I know you can root with a Mac. What about unrooting, in the event you need service? It doesn't look like RUU is available for OS X. Is there another solution?

P.S. I love my MBP. The EVO mounts right in the finder for file management, and I just drag & drop music out of my iTunes directory. But since I've switched to Doggcatcher and Rdio (yay for truly unlimited data!) I find I manage podcasts & music on my SD card far less often.

ah I love a pc vs mac debate and you throw an evo into the mix, it's just bananas!! JK. Although you may see similar specs on pcs that macs have, it all comes down to software and build of the hardware. I use both for video, photos, and music, so I don't mind either or, but there are a lot of people who are blind to see what the difference between an i5 mac and an i5 pc.

However using a mac with your Evo to root, etc will be fine. You will not have a problem messing with your evo. Just a FYI, google has now switched to apple computers as it's primary computer hardware of choice.

The way I sync iCal and Address Book with Google calendar and contacts is with Spanning Sync. It works seamlessly and I've never had a problem. The best way to set it up is if you have calendars in iCal export them and then import into Google calendar. Clear your iCal events but keep the calendars. With Spanning Sync you basically link your Google calendars to the matching iCal calendars and that's it. They're site has a few videos on all this. I highly recommend it.

As for music, just as someone else has pointed out Double Twist is the best option if you want to sync iTunes playlists. You'll need to use the Double Twist app to play them back which has it's pros and cons. The reason being that the default music app doesn't seem to get it's playlists update after the first sync.

Sir, yes sir! We're all aware of what the question was. Don't be so uptight - a little off topic never hurt anybody.
If you're aware of what the question was, why answer a completely different one? Does every question about using a Mac have to be answered with "Windows is better"? If the OP thought Windows was better, he/she would have a Windows computer and wouldn't need to ask about using an EVO with a Mac.

If off topic is desired, please tell us why Chevy trucks are better/worse than Fords too.

I wonder if there are going to be Android OS CPU that run both Windows and Apple software

Were you by chance a hall monitor in high school? :p

Also, nothing I said had anything to do with Windows being better than anything. Maybe read the post next time, yeah?

Anyway, relaaaax. No reason to be upset.

Peace and carrots.

Could be. BSODs usually have nothing to do with the OS as some like to claim. Most times, if you're not overclocking, it's either hardware failure (bad memory or hard drive, for example) or a device driver problem.

Yeah, that's not really how operating systems work, and I doubt Apple and Microsoft would allow it, given how tightly they control iOS and (soon) Windows Phone 7 OS. Some type of emulator might work but there would doubtless be stability and speed problems. If you're wondering whether we'll someday be able to host a virtual machine on our phone that we can use to install Apple/Windows desktop software on, that would have to be a REALLY powerful phone.

Wow... That would make rooting your Evo just be childish. Tri-boot to whichever OS you wanted...

Now THAT would be awesome.
