Any thoughts on life after RAZR M?

My wife wants a little bigger screen.
What phone would give the closest experience to her Razr-M?

On Verizon, maybe the HTC One Remix, though there have been some complaints about signal strength on it. Other than that, the iPhone 6. There aren't really any good smaller phones out besides the iPhone 6 right now.

It is my number one biggest complaint about Android right now, there are no good small phones.

Nope, the Moto X 2014 is too big. Around the same size as the S5.

The S5 is decent, but I can't handle it like I can do my RAZR M.

There's not to many high end phones under 5 inches. Now if u want mid range than there's a lot.

I bought a Droid turbo. It was really nice but ultimately too much like the razr m. Just bigger and faster. The ballistic nylon frayed too so I returned it, then went left field and got a Note4 . Really happy with my decision. The learning curve is part of the fun.

I may go for a M9. I don't like phablets and the S6 doesn't have a micro SD card slot. I upgrade December, so I still got time but, nothing seems that appealing.

Great thread and exactly the question I had. Over the holiday (Dec 2014) my Razr M finally died (let the stupid KitKat update go through finally and it bricked). On a whim I called Motorola and was shocked when they sent me a free replacement M. I'm not loving the KitKat, nor the loss of root (really, it's killing me) but I'm living with it for now. Are there really no new phones in this size range? I've had my hands on all the phones at Best Buy and tbh the only one that felt good was the iPhone 5s, but I'm not willing to enter that ecosystem just yet. The nearest android phones I've found dimension-wise are the S4 mini (or S5 mini, but not picked up by Verizon yet?) and the Droid mini, but both of those are 2013 phones, I think. I saw rumors about a S6 mini for summer 2015, but what are the chances of a US carrier picking it up? Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

Edit: The features that I'm looking for (in order of importance to me) are: 1. Size, 2. Root user capability, 3. Speed, 4. Camera. Screen size/resolution are not important to me at all, but seem to be the things that the current gen of un-pocketable phones are pushing.

I feel the same way. I don't know which way to go because all the current phones are phablets. The iPhone 6 comes close. I am still wondering if the 6S has 2GB of RAM. Then I may just switch to that when it comes out. I want 2 years of updates and a pocketable/one handed size phone with reliable performance. A hard combination these days.

Can anyone comment on the S5 vs Xperia vs turbo.
I know everyone loves the turbo but i'm tempted by the ruggedness of the other 2.

How much bigger is the S5 over the "M"?
Side by side pics.

How difficult is unlocking / rooting?
I'll need hot spot capability.

Out of the 3 the S5 is the closest in size. The Xperia is tall and wide. The turbo isn't that big around the same size as the S5. But, the S5 has much more support, water proofing, and a microSD card slot.

I am getting ready to upgrade from my RAZR M and the two phones I am looking at are the LG G3 and the Sony Xperia Z3v.

I can tell you that based on what I h have read (and trust me, I have done my homework) that the Sony Xperia is vastly underrated by many. It has a premium feel with both sides made out glass, a great camera (can shoot up to 20.7 mp) and battery life is just as good as the Turbo. The only thing that may keep you from getting this phone is that it doesn't have VOLTE yet so you can't do voice and data at the same time but suppose to get updated soon to lollipop which is suppose to resolve that issue.

Good luck though!

I'm loving the Z3 compact. Battery lasts me 3 days. The phone went to android 5.2 right away. Sooo much better at multi tasking than the xt907!!! It is bigger but i got used to it quickly.

The 20MP camera is a blessing and a curse. Pic files trend toward the 4 mb in size. Not easy to upload to places like forums.
Macro picture taking was easier on the xt907. (I use macro a lot at work to take pictures of part / serial numbers, instead of writing them down.)

FYI: ATT sucks at setting up unlocked phones.
