Any thoughts on these rather similar phones?

Thanks everyone.
I've gone for the G6. I compared a lot of sites that don't talk about bells and whistles but rather about tech specs, CPU, I went and read about each processor in each phone, though to be honest I was really only looking at the LG and Huawei.

I couldn't find a single tech review that found much to like about Huawei's attempt to make an affordable version of their full-featured P20 with the Lite. The last time my wife and I bought phones, it was these BLU Life One X's we have now that are failing on us. We had never gone with budget phones, the specs seemed ok and the CPU and other specs concerned me but I didn't think it would affect our ability to use our phones the way we use them. But being someone who builds his own computers I should have known better than to gamble on a device with lesser internal parts. While we don't need to have the latest and greatest phone, there is clearly a benefit and quality that comes from most flagships even if they're one model old that budget phones can't really compare with. Again, not always, but sometimes.

This has been a useful community for years, I think since I was on Froyo, so thanks for the help and feedback everyone.

I'm so glad you are going for the G6! In my opinion, it's one of the most underrated phones of its year. I really wanted it and like how they gave the phone the 2:1 aspect ratio (and it was one of the first phones to ever accomplish that feat!). It feels so good in the hand, especially for 5.7"!

Let us know when you get it, and how you are liking it! Enjoy!

I got it yesterday, haven't had time to set it up yet. I'm busy researching cases. My favourite for years until they became too expensive was Otterbox. In any event, I don't like what they do know with the built in glass protector on the Defender cases. Used to just be silicone and polycarbonate shell.

I've read a lot about TPU and I'm not sold entirely unless it specifically says "drop tested" or "military grade". Tech21 makes a great case with their own proprietary tech that came from having at one time worked with D30, leaders in impact technology. But it's a bit difficult to get here in Canada.

I've looked at all the leading TPU cases (Spigen, Caseology, Ringke) but they all seem inadequate. My preference among them though has to be Ringke who seem more knowledgeable about phone protection by adding the flaps for the headphone and usb ports. It's an attention to detail that speaks to their awareness of what happens to unprotected phones that gives me confidence. But again, that TPU... just can't get confident about it.

The Incipio DualPro is a good dual layer protective case. It's supposed to provide military grade drop protection. I used one on my Nexus 5x with no issues.

I did a ton of research on TPU, TPE, even TPR, a less used material and then looked at what was out there and was satisfied with the Risgke Fusion in black. Also researched the peoplewho determine "military grade" for impact protection. It's not as simple as 'if it has it, it's better than one that doesn't' because there are too many factors to how it's done and the tests are rarely customised for each case. In short, it means someone's tested it, but it's not something which is an absolute sign of uncontestable quality or impact resistance.
