Your ideas are solid and smart... However, it is almost impossible to brick if you follow the exact instructions, and you will be amazed at how much better your phone is... basically, my Htc Inc is just a shell and a completely different OS and UI. amazing what this site and its forums can do for you... anything you need help with do not hesitate to ask... food for thoughtI am not rooted, but my wife and I are on schedule to be debt free in about 8 months. While i am not too worried about bricking the phone, I also don't wish to have to get a new phone because I was monkeying around. After we get debt free, I will reconsider.
May I sugget http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...gingerbread-cyanogenmod-7-nightly-builds.htmlWell, there is now one less unrooted Incredible in the world tonight. After lots of research and debating with myself weather or not I wanted to void my warranty I finally pulled the trigger and rooted my phone. There is always a risk of bricking your phone but rooting with unrevoked was surprisingly easy, I just did my research and familiarized myself with the process before hand and everything went like clockwork. Now to go flash CM7.

Also, Please please if you have any questions, first, read through the entire thread, because that question may have already been answered (no need to clutter up the thread with repeat questions).... If you need help and after reading the thread entirely, page by page, THEN ask away and we will all be glad to help you my friend... I am glad you rooted your phone... you will be amazed... basically my Hinc is only the hardware, completely different UI and OS 2.3.2.... you will love it.. whatever ROM you decide to flash! Sweet, another one pulled into the darkside...jkps... you def need to get clockworkmod from the app market... saved my life countless times
