Any way to keep the screen from waking on every notification?

Tried that - notifications don't show on the lock screen, but the screen still wakes every time.

I believe that only turns off the message popping up over other open apps.

I'm have a G4 and that's what worked for me on the stock messaging app. I ended up using Google messenger anyway.

funny, not all of my apps turn the screen on. I always thought it was app dependant.

Should have clarified - it's the messaging app. Every notification from that wakes the screen.
