I'm really bummed by this. I was hoping for something soon. I guess the hardware is already in the phone, they just need to come out with a charger. You would think that would be the easy part.
Saw some news online saying it's actually out but I'm Japan only. I can't wait for this!

Probably because they don't want to make the same mistake as Apple. There is a defect in their chargers that make them explode.

Updates? This is simply the availability of a charger. The SOC in the M8 is ready to go

HTC has built the m8 to make quick charge 2.0 compatible. It's up to Qualcomm to release the actual chargers that goes with the gadgets. So far they are available in Japan it appears.
