Any word when Note 9 gets next version update?

I have it now but would go back to Pie if I could. If offers nothing new I want and takes away my ability to shut off needless permissions some apps demand on installation. I especially prefer to shut off network access to most apps. That is no longer possible.

Is it not possible to flash previous firmware?
Did the bootloader change with the Android 10 update?
