Anybody buy one?

After playing with it for a couple of weeks I have to say I like it a lot. I don't know what all the bad press is about.

Yes, it takes a bit to get used to its features. The lack of a back button was a bit of a head scratcher and I found I was inadvertently turning on the camera when powering up. The camera button could have been better placed.

The $.99 price is just icing on the cake!

My kid really likes his, but I haven't messed with it at all. The bad press from the tech crowd is a good enough reason to buy one, I suppose.

I am really thinking to get one, it`s just cool that this phone is different in something than any other android phone. My only problem that I don`t want a contra<ct and without that it`s too expensive. It`s still 449 € (32GB version) on amazon.de. I hope they will have a good offer for christmas for prime members.

I really cant complain for the price $199 with no contract and one year of prime. Im using straight talk with AT&T sim card and its amazing for $42 a month can get it cheaper from Ebay for $32 a month. My speeds are 29 Mbps down and 12.6 Mbps up and I live where service is terrible. Is it the best phone no is it worth $100 I paid for yeah so it is.

Well sure this be the weirdest post here.
My fire should be here Tuesday 229 but 99 for the prime extends my prime another year.Older I get I start to think I dont need every single new iphone that comes out.
Weird part I have iphone 6 , I dont need a 849 dollar phone so IF the camera on the Fire is ok I may stay Fire and sell iphone 6 Plus.
I know a weirdo here.....know one goes from iphone 6 or 6 plus to a Fire

I got my Fire phone a few days ago, and I am very surprised how good it can be. I side-loaded four core Google .apk files and in minutes I had Google play store fully functioning (no root required). Next I downloaded the Google launcher and made it my default launcher when the phone asked. Finally I downloaded (from Google Play) all the apps I currently use on my Nexus 4 and installed them. The phone now has Google now on the home screen, and looks and runs very much like a Nexus 5, but has Firefly, dynamic perspective, and Prime as well. So far only downside is the text fields on Google Maps is poorly rendered, so I use the nice maps program that comes with the fire. When Amazon released the KitKat version of the OS early next year, Bluetooth LS (4.0) will be enabled, which is my only other complaint at this point.

This phone was a great deal for $99 plus the $99 to renew my Prime subscription

since loading google launcher have you been able to change wallpapers?

I havent.

I installed dodol Launcher and you can download themes that allow you to set a wallpaper. Not sure if you can set your own photos though. This is what my homescreen looks like.

Try Vire Launcher. Seems to be the most compatible if you want wallpaper and widgets. For me, who likes a low batery draining black screen, Google Now launcher is perfect.
