Anybody consider the Google Play Editions?

I'm a Nexus 4 user and just wondering if anyone has let go of their N4 for a Google Edition HTC One or Galaxy S4?

If so how are they working out so far with some slight hardware bumps?

I don't really see what's the point if you already have a Nexus 4.

I feel the same, plus you would be paying $600 for something you pretty much already got. Some people want the latest tech though.

I considered them, but hate the colors. I would have been more likely to buy one of them if they came in black. Sorry, I know its just color but I like black phones.

So do I, it's the reason I choose the Nexus 4. Not only is it pure Android it's a pretty sexy phone! My friends always get confused on how to turn it on because the face is completely clean with no buttons.

Waiting on the next Nexus. As someone else already said if you have an N4 already I just cannot rationalize spending $600+ on either of those phones. Great hardware in both of them but I got a great phone already.

I'm on VZW, so I would have to come off that to get a Nexus 4. If I was willing to come off of VZW, then I would certainly consider Developer edition HTC One, but it would be hard to overcome the price tag on the Nexus, my love for the Nexus line and the proven track record of the N4 I bought my mom.
Let's see how fast 4.3 comes to each phone and then factor that in too.

Performance and LTE.
A bluetooth stack that works.
Better camera.
I'm good with the Nexus 4 until a 5 comes out but I can see other people wanting these things.

True, especially if the rumors are true with the Nexus 5 being around the same price unlocked as the Nexus 4 when it was released.

Only thing I wish the Nexus 4 really had was a bigger battery, I can get through a whole day with moderate use. Camera is fine to me a lot of people complain but when I went overseas I took plenty of photos which came out great.

I'm also curious if the Google Editions will get updates at the same time as the Nexus line. I read that they aren't quite pure android as some may think. There are some slight tweaks to the OS for the One and S4 for some hardware features.

I came off VZN back in February to get the N4 and I don't miss anything with VNZ especially the pricing and to me restrictive selection of phones. I've never been a Droid fan.I run on ATT thru NET10 and my data service suits my needs. Now I know I can have the latest Android OS when it comes out and its the plain Jane kind which is what I like.

People complain about the camera all the time. I can't see it. I had a very short stint with the Note 2 recently and the reviews for that camera were remarkable. However, I can't see the difference between the two outside of that I need to make sure that the settings are appropriate for the conditions I'm taking pictures in.

If they came out at the same time as the n4 I would of got the s4 Google play addition just for the bigger removable battery, no glass back, and better camera.

Yea a bigger battery and SD card would have been a plus, I'm content with the camera though. The glass back did scare me a little and as much as I didn't want a case I got one just for precaution lol

I would love a Google edition HTC One if the price ever goes down. After owning a Nexus 4, I can't use a carrier branded device anymore.

I've had my n4 since February with a tpu case and no problems. My friend got one in November when they first came out and hasn't had a case on at all and has no cracks or scratches. I usually like to use my phones without cases though.
