Reinstalled Samsung Messages on my Fold 7 and gonna rock it for a bit to get a feel of it again and wondering if anyone else has also switched to it?

The real reason I did it is because I've found out a long time ago that if I check my messages in Samsung messaging once in a while I will find texts that I do not see in Google Message.

Usually just spam texts but I feel the need to check and get rid of it. I am thinking those messages are hiding, taking space under my carrier account somewhere in the cloud and wanna check if anything interesting and clean it up. Sometimes when I had texting issues in past I'd also go check and clear out junk in hopes it would resolve my issue.

Anyways, while doing so I was looking at the UI and forgot how Samsung Messages will use my custom font I choose where Google will use it's own choice of font and it just looks better when going from app to app and fonts are in sync like that.

I also see you can slide and resize the left and right panels. Right now it looks good with 1/3 left 2/3 right layout with my Flora Latin font style :) So with a better look and feel gonna stick with it.

If you use WhatsApp you will see that they support your custom font in their app also and also cant change but they do a 1/3 2/3 screen split too and looks good.

I forgot if there are any features I am leaving behind in Google Messages so if someone wants to remind me.

My wife using Samsung Messages on her Fold7. And I am using Samsung Messages on my S23 Ultra.
One particular feature that I like is when you delete message thread you can also tap radio button and block the number.

Speaking of WhatsApp. Is it working for you when you do video calls full screen? I am asking because WhatsApp has issues on my wife's phone.

See my post here:

One big Con i just realized when texting friends tonight on my PC using Google Messages for Web... I'm using Samsung Messages and non of my texts for last hour through GM for Web went through 😅

I like using it too when at desk at home or work instead of going to phone when on PC already. Have to think about that.

@Mozart-Man I was going to actually reply to that post other day but got lazy...

Curiousity got the best of me and wanted to see if i could recreate it so I did a session between my Fold 7 and my iPhone 15, went video call, went full screen on the Fold and had a conversation with myself for about 5-10 minutes and couldn't get it to freeze. I tried opening multiple apps and leave in background even apps like netflix or youtube or multiple chat apps, camera app and go back to the WhatsApp full video and it wouldnt stumble.

Only thing I can think of is bad wifi or data connection? Or is it still happening irratically? What carrier? ATT sim in my Fold. I was on home wifi.. Not sure if I tested with wifi off.

I mainly use Google for the capabilities of using the Web to text. I know you can do it with Samsung if you use Windows and PC Link, but I really am not a fan of PC link. :(
my bride uses Phone Link all the time, and it periodically has some ghosts in the machine. not weekly, necessarily, but a few times a month, maybe.

Yeah I really am not a fan of idea of using PC Link to use. So much easier just using a new tab on browser. I mean WhatsApp at least has its own Windows app to chat while on PC. Samsung could have but don't care at this point.

Really too bad cause I like the layout in open screen and fonts and the resize on the right panel where you can zoom IN as well as zoom out when needed. Google only allows zoom out.

I'll keep rocking the Samsung message to see if I can live without the PC access.

Interesting note... So quite a few 3rd party apps will support if you use a custom font... WhatsApp, even Teams and Outlook to a point where left panel is in the font you choose but the email or chat panel to the right is another font. But all the Google apps you open which you would think would be the most likely to support custom fonts on their own OS, does not... except one Google app I can see. YouTube app supports custom font. And that's it. I thought it was interesting.

I REALLY tried to like and use PC Link... I really did... but, ultimately, in the end, it's just too much to buggy and unreliable.

At least, Google Messages Web is very convenient, consistent and it just works. Perfect? No, but it is so much more reliable. :)

I have Z Fold 6 and Sony Xperia 1 Vi. Does Samsung messages sync between both devices? With Google messages, only option is web.

I believe only between other Samsung devices with messages.

With Samsung Internet Browser you were able to sync with non Samsung device like Samsung Internet Browser for Win PC. I think that is still possible but haven't done that in a while. IMO Samsung browser is the beset for Android but for PC I still use FireFox.
