No matter where I go I have terrible reception. It is difficult to even make a call or receive a call anymore. I am usually at one or two bars of service at all times. Anybody else have this issue? I am live in a suburb of a major city and have always had ATT, so it is not my cell provider.

Its possible that your battery is going bad. When that happens the battery swells from the gasses trapped inside. IF the swelling is pushing on the case its might be breaking contact with the board and the antennas on the inside.
OR
you may have a case on there thats impeding signal. I once had an iPhone come into my shop with bad signal, took off the shiny metal case the guy had and went back to full bars. LOL

Are these places you have been before with good known full bar service? Any recent updates / firmware you have applied to the device?

I have the same exact problem. Only 1-2 bars. And I have no case on the phone at the moment. (but I want to get a sup case unicorn beetle hybrid case) And I'm using the phone on Straight Talk with AT&T. And in my area we have great coverage. Yesterday I went on a trip to Monroe, Louisiana and I didn't have signal the whole way basically. So that's not matching AT&T's or Straight Talk's coverage maps. And my mother's phone went to 3G. Mine never did. It would go from 4G LTE, 4G (hspa+), no signal. And I know AT&T still has 3G coverage. So I'm completely confused as dto why this happens.

Interesting...thanks....

Is there anyway to check if this is the situation?

I can swear my reception has declined over time, and this would explain it, to some extent.

Thanks,
R

I do not have a case on my phone. I enjoy it to be naked at all times. How would I figure out fi my battery is going bad? My battery has not been working as well as it should over the past week.

The only thing is I have not even had the phone for a year and I am not a heavy user by any means. I only charge my phone once a day.

Keep in mind the bars you see when not on a call are showing data strength. When you make a call, you actually see voice strength......

Same issue here. AT&T actually took part in saying it is their fault. Towers are corrupted and are working to fix them. A lot of people now in my area are using microcells. I've been experiencing dropped calls since June. Prior to that everything was great.

I always had dropped calls with AT&T. Either that or "Your call can not be completed at this time." I dumped them about 6 years ago. I now have Sprint. The calls are crystal clear and I never have a dropped call. But Sprint's data network sucks. I have to use my friends Verizon phone if I ever need to look something up. Always get no data connection notice with Sprint.
