doesnt anyone realise u cant compare the two.theyre veiy diffent deviceg.i dont see how people are wondering which to choose, theyre modern phones for two separete mobile phones for different userrg.
im excited to see what the iphone has just coz im a geek :)

These topics are pointless. Why? Well, whether iPhone is inferior or not, people will continue to buy it and will continue to buy Samsung products due to preference. I bought the galaxy s3, because I liked its predecessor and I like android platform over ios. Guess what? Some people prefer ios over android, and that is not going to change.

The 4s falls short in almost every category in terms of specs. I'd certainly expect the 5 to at least match the gs3 in these aspects if not better it.

The industrial design and build quality will almost certainly be top notch on the new iPhone. They will use what will most likely be the fastest mobile GPU in any phone, which will make gaming on it a beast. Battery life will probably stay the same as the 4S (Apple hates making a sacrifice in this area), and if not won't be significantly worse.

The thing I'm most interested in is the screen. It almost certainly WON'T be 720p, but some one-off Apple resolution. If they do that IMHO they are doing a disservice to everybody that enjoys watching movies on their phone. 720p is a standard resolution across pretty much all major media formats, and Apple just won't go with it. If that's the case then they are already far behind the S3 and other Android phones in this area.

From what I've read the screen is still going to be significantly smaller on the iphone 5. If true then iphone 5 is really missing the mark. I think it's obvious from looking at the sales of the top 10 phones that people want bigger screens. When I see an iphone anymore they look dinky to me. And if the iphone 5 still requires itunes then guess what, it's still going to suck. Even people with iphones hate itunes.

Actually, not quite. Television can be traced back to the discovery of the photoconductivity of the element selenium by Willoughby Smith in 1873, the invention of a scanning disk by Paul Gottlieb Nipkow (German) in 1884 and John Logie Baird's (American) innovation of broadcasting televised moving images in 1926.

The Scotsman you're talking about was John Logie Baird. He gave the first public demonstration of televised silhouette images, at Selfridge's Department Store in London. He didn't actually invent anything.

Germans and Americans have pretty much invented everything.

Actually, it's probably one of the huge monopolies from back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Think about Standard Oil. HUGE.

I agree with this. You can have all the resolution you want, but at the end of the day if the screen is too small to see anything what good does that do? Even if they bumped up to 4.3" it would be immensely better for just about everything; reading, typing, playing games, etc.

4.3" at 720p would be awesome.

I don't see the distinction. On that basis, are there any "American" companies? They'd all be Chinese.

I don't subscribe to the whole "buy American" nonsense because the global economy has increase the standard of living for all immensely. A company's obligation is to its shareholders, and to a lesser extent, its customers. If it can increase profits for its shareholders and reduce prices for its customers, it just proves the system is working. As far as the impact it may have on a particular group of workers, it is unfortunate but they'll just have to get over the sense of entitlement that they should be paid multiple times more than another for the same work simply because of their birth right.

Yes it's done wonders for the standard of living. Americans have lost their manufacturing jobs and companies pay slave labor wages to keep costs down. Chinese workers are committing suicide in protest of how miserable their conditions are. The only people who benefit the global economy are corporations.

I've been trying, but nobody wants to follow the example I've been trying to set here. :)

It needs to get back on topic.

Anyone else think the screen size and resolution will be the major FAIL on the new iPhone and that will be the main reason why anyone with a high-end Android device will not even consider it?

I have an Iphone a Razr and the Galaxy S3 and I hope they never put jelly bean on the S3 as the new OS screw up phones that come with whatever Gingerbread, Froyo or Ice Cream Sandwich. Need to leave things alone once sold with an OS as it has screwed up 3 of my phones
