Anybody know anything about supposed 500 minute value option?

I noticed that when you have a plan in your cart, you can click this button. It says here that "lines w/ 500 minutes $5/each per month". It also says this is only available in T-Mobile stores. Does anyone know what the $5 is referring to though? How much would I be saving to have a line in a family plan w/ 500 minutes versus unlimited? It also says the unlimited minutes is $25/each per month. Where is cost coming into play in the plan price? Its $80 for two lines + $10 add-a-line for three w/ unlimited talk+text and 500mb data. What makes up the $80 plan price I guess is what I'm asking?

I tried inquiring about this to a T-Mobile online rep but they responded that they only have unlimited voice plans (I'm guessing since it says in-stores only, she wouldn't know about it?). Anyone know anything about this?

I don't know, but maybe it is a legacy plan, something that was grandfathered in to somebody who has been with Tmo for awhile? I don't think it is something anybody could get now without already having a plan that has it.

The $80 is for 2 lines on their Simple Choice Family Plan (sort of like Postpaid) and comes from $50 for 1st line + $30 for the 2nd line. I don't know how they break down their pricing matrix, but it is not a bad deal if you compare it to their Prepaid plans. Over on the Prepaid side of the coin, each phone for the same thing you are talking about is $50 per line, so 2 lines would be $100, however you don't pay regulatory and access fees in Prepaid so you might come out about the same whether it is Simple Choice or Prepaid.

There are some benefits to the Simple Choice even though you have to pay regulatory and access fees. You get tethering for free (for the amount of data in your plan), and supposedly you get better customer service and I've heard people mention that supposedly you get higher network priority when the network is congested. Also, on Simple Choice I think you can finance a new phone with Tmo, whereas in Prepaid you bring you own unlocked phone.

1) $30 5GB data 100 minute talk unlimited text plan -- web only and for new activation only. 10 cents a minute after you burn thru your 100 minutes.

2) And Pay as You Go plan, which is basically 10 cents per minute, but there is a bit of variation, i.e., you can also pay $2 or $3 per day for unlimited for that day.

yeah, I mean just for postpaid
