Anyone a Geocacher?

It works awesome on my Droid, not nearly as much circle walking as I am used to with my Garmins. Generally, it will hold its zero very close, the dancing number game is one I do not miss. Another part I really like is the log as you go, no more getting home and trying to sort through what I did at 25 locations during the day.

Add another cacher to the list. I just found number 500 the other day while using my droid for the first time while caching. I was testing out cachmate, GeoBeagle and c:geo. I love cachemate since I used it on my old palm pilot. Geobeagle kinda sucks but c:geo isn't too bad. I was amazed to find out how much better the GPSr on my droid was over my Gamin 60cs. I had one in each hand and the Droid only let me down once.

Its so nice not needing to load caches onto the GPSr and palm via computer and then carrying them into the field. Now everything can be done right from the droid with no need for a computer.

Just because you don't have phone service doesn't mean you don't have GPS, they are two separate radio bands. Hell if you don't have a signal on your X, it can lead you via GPS to somewhere you do!

Just curious, why doesn't the google maps navigation work when there is no service?

Add me to the list of cachers. My Sister and her family took me on a cache adventure and now I am hooked. I use the program from GEOCACHING.COM. I used c:geo but it didn't seem to zero me in on the cache.

I am up to only a mere 12 caches...but I am only a week into it.

Had the Geocaching.com app on my Storm2 but didn't want to drop another $10 to repurchase for my Droid X. Tried c:geo with little success. Started using NeonGeo a few months ago and it works great!

I started Geocaching last summer as a fun outdoor activity for my son & I to do (he's 3). We love it!

I use c:geo.

I use the official app and use WhereYouGo for wherigo caches. I've heard good things about NeonGeo but I use my handheld DeLorme PN-60 as my primary device since it can survive abuse.

Love to Geocache.. have an android app you can recommend for my X?

My sister got me into it. I haven't done much lately because I have been sick. I have only been doing it for about 3 weeks and have about 20 finds.

I use c:geo and I use the GROUNDSPEAK one they have on their site. It costs $9.95 but it seems to be the most accurate and the accuracy is good, but then again, it is all about the field of view with the Satellites.

I didn't think I would like GEOCACHING, but once I found my first CACHE....I was hooked. Besides, it is a great way to get exercise and get fresh air.

I find it appealing because you are using technology (GPS) to find something that is hidden....no one other than the CACHERS know it is there....like a secret.

I look at it sort of like "NATIONAL TREASURE" and getting all the clues.

I use c:geo and use radar to get to the cache.

If it weren't for my smart phone and the ability to look up and record findings in the field, I wouldn't play.

I love C:Geo but it almost makes it too easy.
Turn on satellite and zoom way in and you can see the exact area it's hidden in most of the time.
I'm only at 237 finds cause I only do it when I get the whim.
I have geocached on vacation before. Some of my finds are in NYC and Canada.

I will definitely be adding GeoBeagle when I get my X.

Geocaching is fun and I'm not at 300, more like 3! They're hard to find but the hunt is the fun part. I'm using the official Geocaching app.

I use my DX all the time for on-the-fly geocaching. And the only app I use is c:geo opensource. Easy. Fast. Free. What more could you want?

With the changes to Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site (changing from Google Maps to OpenStreet), c:geo opensource is basically useless until its fixed (which could be 2-6 weeks) :(. I used it for close to a year and loved it. Official app looks terrible and is $9.99. All in all, geocaching is great fun ... even more so with friends.

I thought something looked different on their webpage.. I use the official APP and yes I paid $9.99. So far, it works AMAZING. I have C:Geo and it doesn't target in to the Cache like the official app does. The only thing that I don't like about the official app is that I can't expand my area when I search for "Find nearby Caches" and I live in an area that literally has thousands of caches probably within a 10 mile area. I can make pocket querries which helps. I am still learning.

My sister has a handheld GPS unit (DeLorme) and I was using my TBolt....I locked in on the satellites fast and more accurate than she did. Her advantage....her battery lasts longer.

I am up to 64 caches (only been doing it for about 2 months).

my username is: defcon888 if anyone wants to friend me.
