Anyone coming from the Pixel?

I switched from the Pixel XL to the S8+ and couldn't be happier. I love the design of this phone. Granted the pixel did seem to perform a little better when it came to the smoothness of the device and the FPS was better but other than that I don't see much else to separate the two. I'm actually looking forward to see what the new Pixel brings later this year.

I'm considering this more and more (albeit I did write a rant about Samsung yesterday ha ha ha). Oreo is cool but there's really nothing amazing about it. Did anyone else come from a Pixel since this post? Any regrets?

I had a pixel and it was a solid phone. But nothing wow to me. I like to try different phones so after a while I like something new. I really missed Samsung pay and I use it for everything so that was my main reason to switch. The s8 does have a much louder speaker and the water resistance was also welcome.
The pixel is still a good phone but to me felt like a rushed product and not fully polished. Almost as if I was a tester to see how it would run with the big sellers ( Samsung, Apple). I'm glad to see they are putting the finishing polish on the next version, ( water resistance, edge screen, camera.) But like I said I enjoy jumping around phones.

They all have their selling points and they all have their downsides. These days phones are all pretty much on the same par as flagships go. The pixel was a solid daily driver with fast updates and a great camera. Just not with all the bells and whistles that Samsung has. If you keep these in mind I think you'd be happy with either device. There will always be something bigger and better a few months later anyway. So no, I don't regret switching.

See that's a bit how I feel. The software updates made me choose the Pixel but Samsung got good with security patches. My only fear is that we have to wait so much longer for new features with Samsung, not just new features coming from Android but, after the next phone comes out, even Samsung's new features will be pushed out to the latest phone a later to the S8 whereas Google sends the same image to all the Pixel phones.

But I miss a lot of the functionnalities Samsung adds to the phone. I also miss having an SD card, selective backups and, yes, the UI. 2 years ago I never thought I'd say this but Samsung's UI looks amazing now.

So, after 6 months, anyone who came from the Pixel? How are you enjoying (or not) your S8?

Also, did anyone get an S8 after the Oreo update?

I went from Nexus 6p to Pixel XL to S8 plus, 6p and pixel XL were phenomenal phones, my reason for getting S8 plus was the new screen and the fact that I was hearing so many good things about there UI compared to the old touchwiz and I had never had a Samsung before and wanted to try it out and I absolutely love it.

So I made the switch. Right now it's still in the box (waiting for my case to come tomorrow) but I did tinker with it a bit. I'm happy about the software and the hardware even though the screen and edge takes some getting used to (especially after the Pixel). Will comment later if anyone on the Pixel is interested in switching. But it's definitely more impressive!
