Anyone else feeling like they'll be trading in their TB in 4-5 months?

I just don't know where you draw the line anymore with this technology, maybe I'm a minority but I'm happy enough to get a phone and sit on it for the length of the contract and upgrade then. I'm a tech junkie but it seems like every month a new device is announced with some new feature that we simply can't live without yet somehow we managed to live without it all the way up until the moment they told us we can't..... I mean smartphones are great, dont get me wrong but if I want to play video games or watch a movie well then I've got this great 42 inch hdtv or this wonderful 24 inch lcd monitor sitting in my apartment that seem to do the job pretty damn well. If I want to take some pictures, well I've got a really nice Canon DSLR that as far as I can tell does a damn fine job as well and if thats too much glass then it's to the trusty point and shoot, both of which have leaps and bounds more versatility than a phone camera. Those aspects of the phone for me are just something to bridge the gap and I'm not looking for them to replace the dedicated equipment I already have, although thats how I feel these things are being marketed now. I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade because I'm just as excited for this phone as anyone but its just another device to make life a little more convenient but like I said earlier, up until this point I didn't really feel it needed to be that much more convenient or (insert fancy new phone specs here). So to answer the original question, No I don't feel I'll be replacing the TB in the next 4-5 months. I'll sign my contract and happily use my Thunderbolt until its spark fades into oblivion or the contract ends, whichever comes first.

See it's posts like these that make me lean toward the Thunderbolt even more. I mean I have the original Storm. I don't think it can get much worse than that.

I don't want to play games on my phone because I have a 360 and a 40" LCD. I probably will take a lot of pictures with my phone because I don't take a lot of pictures in the first place and when I do take pictures, I don't like taking my camera with me (which is only a 7.2 MP point and shoot anyway although it does have excellent optical zoom).

The only issue that may arise is the battery life and whether or not the dual core phones really will have better battery life. And if all else fails, since my mother is on my plan, I can always use her upgrade in October (or later) and give her the Thunderbolt which would be more than enough phone for her.

Well, I have a crappy small TV, no camera, no gaming console, no internets, no mp3 player! Lol

I use my phone in place of all of that! The BlackBerry has worked great except for the internet.

I am disappointed with the misinformation on the thunderbolt, I was one of the guys that preordered at Best Buy. It is a race between the thunderbolt and the incredible 2 and even if I get the thunderbolt, I may swap over to the incredible 2. I like the thought of having a global phone option

The I2 is global? I like that option too.

I have a global BlackBerry now that I've used out of the US, worked great. It's nice to be able to do that.

I for one don't think the Inc S is the model coming to Verizon supposedly in March.

Loved the new button feature. Don't know how that doesn't waste battery though.

People again need to realize there really was no information provided on this phone. BB went too far ahead, VZW didn't do anything. Yes its a shame but still need to focus on the fact this was slated for March release.

I am using my BB pre-order as place holder for the HTC Saga or HTC Incredible 2 if they turn out to be not for me. Verizon/HTC would seal the deal for if they had these phones with lte and dual core processors.(Please no rant about dual-core)

By the way I hate the idea that the word flagships are being tossed around by manufacturer as it seems the definition to me is skewed.

For Example
A.) flagship has dual-core processor but no gingerbread or 4g*cough lg and sony*
B.) flagship phone has infamous 1gz processors and extra exclusive gingerbread.

My definition all the above!
(note all this is subject to change just don't agree with marketing with mobile companies as of late especially the thunderbolt)

HTC released there big news today! Did I not call it they went with Flagship definition B. I wasn't disappointed when I found out but I was when the HTC Flyer did not come with dual-core processor of Honeycomb.

Damn I hope the thunderbolt doesn't come out until march because I believe their is one more mobile show in march. Come on HTC this your last chance in this second Q2. I can't wait any longer for your dual-core snapdragon processors any longer!!!! Maybe I can but damn!

I have my bb bold saved incase i need to go out of the country! :)

"To each is own"

I understand technology moves at rapid pace. Everyone can agree on whatever piece technology you buy today is ancient by tomorrow morning. Also everyone can agree that a certain piece of technology hits point where theirs baseline of features what the majority needs. For example a dual-core, 2GB of Rom, and 300GB window base computer is more than enough for majority of people.(this can be argue but the point remains the same) Now back to android phones I just feel that the baseline now is dual-core, 4G, and the latest android software. I hate the fact that lately the next flagship phone has just one or two out of the three features.

Now all these so called "flagship phones" coming out are great. I just find it funny one flagship phone will just have a dual-core processor or 4g or just gingerbread but not yet all three or at least two. When all these feature are at most of theses manufacturers disposal. Luckily those International CTIA Wireless is in March. (Hoping for a leaked dual-core lte htc phone comes out before TBOLT does.;))

Someone posted earlier about a decent calendar...I had completely forgotten about that. A great calendar is definitively needed. not much of a gamer. Angry birds maybe (ok must, even if you don't play lol). Point being, I wouldn't mind keeping the phone for 2 years, and if I want something before then, then I'll get it. but as long as it can do what i needed to do, (phone email, calendar, txt), i'll keep it around for a long time.

As the primary bread winner, and person responsible for the Verizon bill I take the next upgrade. I tell my son who is 19 that he can buy what ever he wants, or take my old phone. My wife can also buy whatever she wants or take my old phone.
Now my son has moved from an OG droid, to a Droid 2, to an Incredible, and now to a Droid X, all in the last year. In a couple of months, he will get my Thunderbolt when I get the next superphone.
By the way, I always pay for the 1 year contract.
