Anyone else have Airave connection problems with the Optimus?

Hi guys,

I used to have a Touch pro 2 and the original Samsung Airave. My connection for phone and data were great. I just upgraded to the Optimus, which i love, but now i get terrible data connection using the Airave. Anyone else experience this? Anyone find a fix??

What I've noticed is that while I don't see 4-5 bars of service, when I place the test call (don't remember the key strokes for it) it's connected to the airave just fine...

I don't get it either... though I've noticed it with cm6 builds on my old HTC Hero as well... (though it looked perfectly fine under 2.1)

Mine works perfect. Only problem I have is when I'm leaving my house and on the phone, as soon as I'm out of Airrave coverage, I drop the call instead of transitioning onto Sprint network.

For those of you with data problems, are you using the external GPS antenna with it?

Sprint offered to upgrade me from original Samsung Airave to new Airvana. What do you guys think?? Ive heard that the new one is worse, but i trust your opinions more since you actually have an Optimus.

I never had an Airave, but I have the Airvana, and I am quite happy with it. I still connect to it half way down my block. My data speeds in my house and signal strength are amazing. The only thing that I don't like is that occasionally if I am on a call and leaving my house, it doesn't transition me over to the Sprint network and I drop the call...but that happens rarely.

I used to have a problem with the optimus not recieving phone calls when within airave coverage. I called their customer support, they reset something on their end, and now it works great (except when my 2 yr old unplugs it

I have had intermittent problems with the Airvana Airave all together, but since I I got the Optimus S I have noticed a 3-7 second delay on calls that causes me and the peopel I talk to to sort of step all over one another on the calls.

seems like people have had better luck with the airvana than the original airave...sprint wants to charge me 129 for the upgrade even though they gave me the airave for free because i get no reception at my place...hopefully they discount it a little, 129 is steep.
