Anyone else having proximity sensor problems?

I have been having problems with the proximity sensor on my new one. It's constantly switching to speaker or going into other areas. I have tested it with my finger but it keeps having it no matter how hard I press it or not press it to my head. Is this common or is there a way to solve this? It's my only problem with the phone besides finding a decent video player. Any help would be appreciated on both subjects. It's my first android device in a long long time.

I don't have that issue. Have you had your phone for awhile and this recently cropped up?
You can always press the power button to turn off the display during a call.

No I just got it. No dropped calls just speaker phone issue. I'll try turning off the screen. I appreciate the help.

If you're having an issue, go to your carrier and get it swapped. You shouldn't have to live with faulty hardware.
