I'm using the battery mod as part of the phone and keep it always on. Makes worrying about battery life a non-issue. Anyone else doing this and how do you like it?

How cool is it that we have a phone where you can basically add a magnetic backing that gives another 2200mah in battery? I'm loving having that option.

It really is! For me I don't use it as an option but is always on. It helps immensely with my battery OCD that the battery level icon never goes below 80% :)
Same. Feels awesome to not use phone battery til like 7pm..,

I'm not sure I understand the benefit to that feature.

Here's how I see it in my opinion: keeping the main battery constantly at 100% is probably not optimal for the battery itself. From everything I've read on the subject the sweet spot for an Li-ion battery is between 40 and 80%. So there's that. Plus by strictly using the mod to power the device (or more correctly constantly keeping the main battery fully charged) you'll probably discharge the mod (an Li-ion battery) completely on a regular basis. [Taken from the web] "One of the worst things you can do to a Li-ion battery is to run it out completely all the time. Full discharges put a lot of strain on the battery, and it's much better practice to do shallow discharges to no lower than 20 percent".

So by using the main battery for 20% at the start, and then letting the mod do the rest you'll probably not deplete it too often which is better for the mod. The good news is that the mod is replaceable, but no sense helping it along to a quicker death ;). Just my two cents as I know everyone will do things that works the best for the way they use the phone.

What kind of SOT are you guys getting when leaving the mod all day? Trying to decide if I want to get the Z or the Z Play.

I keep my battery mod on 24/7. But then I have been using wireless charging for years. If they came out with a thin wireless charging back I might save the big mod for occasions when I think I will need it.

I love having it to cover me if I forget to charge my phone or If I use my phone really heavy and am away from a charger. I don't use it regularly because I love how light this phone is, especially using the phone for long periods. To me I don't see the point in making my phone heavier til my battery is nearly flat. The battery life on the regular Z is surprisingly good and usually gets me through a full day, if not I have turbo charge which can add a lot of battery life in a short period of time.

Basically I keep my mods in my bag which I take to work, so they are near me 90% of the time. The mod comes in handy if i'm almost flat and I want to continue texting someone without being tethered to a powerpoint. Personally I don't understand why you would want to make your phone bulkier and heavier til you absolutely need to, unless your out and about a lot without somewhere to put the mod

As mentioned in my earlier comment I only use the mod to top up when I can't charge my phone, but the Z gives me 4-5 hours SOT without the mod and I love how light and thin the phone is for long periods holding the phone.

However I think if the play was available to me at the time of purchasing the regular Z, I may of gotten that just because it is a lot cheaper, battery life is a lot better and the consensus seems to be that it runs smoothly despite the slower processor. Having a 1080p screen instead of QHD doesn't bother me neither

*Edit* I got my battery mod free with the phone, but I think If I got the play I wouldn't of bothered with the battery mod, which gives you more money to spend on other mods and style shells :)
