Anyone else kind of upset that Sony is taking longer than everyone else with the Lollipop update?

I am a bit irked. I know Sony said they would have the update out by beginning of February, but I want it!

they can keep it... never ever received a major Android upgrade that didn't somehow screw something up... I have a horrible feeling that our amazing battery life will take a hit with Lollipop. That white app drawer makes me cringe by the way... just my 2 cents

The Lollipop update from Google has been far from smooth. I have a Nexus 7 2013 and the first two rounds of updates didn't make it out of the "soak test" phase before being pulled. I got the update on the third release cycle and it seems to be OK. Battery life seems about the same and performance for most apps is still OK. However, depending on the number of apps you have on your phone, the update is NOT fast. All the apps have to be recompiled for ART....I think that is where some of the problems occurred.

Personally, for my Z3, I'm fine with KitKat and if it takes Sony a little longer to get the upgrade right....I'm definitely OK! I'm in no hurry. FYI, battery life should actually be better with Lollipop, but, like others, I'm skeptical.

In Canada the only devices that have Lollipop as far as I know are Nexus 6 and HTC One M8. The Z3 is my first Sony android phone so based on just the short amount of time Lollipop isn't too far behind. That being said it's apparently rumoured we will get it in the next 2 weeks or by March 1st. I know there was a leak that Rogers is releasing it for the Z3 on March 1st. That being said I never expect any updates to be quick especially if it's from a North American provider lol

Not at all. My phone is a lifeline that I use as a primary phone, GPS, email, and even alarm clock. I rely on it a whole lot and I would MUCH rather them put out a stable product than try and rush to get an update out.

Plus in all honesty, I really don't see what the big hubbub is about Lollipop. I just got it on my Nexus 7 LTE last week (speaking of dragging feet) and while it looks different, there is nothing that really makes my experience any better. *shrug*

Not at all. After using Lollipop on a Moto X I say keep it away from me. I won't update for quite some time.

Why the "Rush"?; let them get the "kinks" worked out and then, update: I'd rather have a "polished" new O.S. as opposed to a "shiny" new (we'll work out the kinks later) update !

I'd love to have it but I don't think it's been a very long time at this point. Samsung and HTC just started releasing it. Let's hope they don't mess up the volume controls. They work fine currently.

I've used lollipop on my sons Nexus 4 and it's alright but 4.4.4 is pretty good too. Seems we're past the point of the next major os being drastically better compared to before. More like refined tweaks to squeeze out performance.

I've heard so many differing stories about Lollipop, but, oddly, the party line on AC and other such sites seems to be 'Lollipop is King', with very little criticism of it, regardless of the issues some face.

I'd also rather Sony wait until the build is as good as it gets. As to whether its because they want to get it right, or because they're facing issues in the mobile division, who knows..?

It hasn't stopped me checking for it every day since Feb 1 though...

Nope, don't want it. Coworker got it on his Nexus 5 and hated it. My wife's Moto G became unusably slow after the update. Not to mention all the changes and removed features (no silent mode, are you kidding me?)

So no. Sony can take it's sweet time, I'm in no hurry and will probably hold off on updating as long as I can.

It's COMPLETELY different. I tried messing with the settings on the Moto G and it became infuriating really fast. I do not want granular notification control, I want to simply know for sure that my phone will be silent. I have a Pebble that I use for notifications, so I just want the phone to be silent, no vibration, but keep notifications coming in. And if you turn notifications off in Lollipop, even the damn alarm stops! I just want that extra click down past vibrate to make the phone shut up entirely.

Google and Motorola removed it, HTC left it in, Samsung is adding it back with another update....it remains to be seen how Sony will handle it.

I just don't like that they didn't update us on the situation. Don't say you're going to start updating to Lollipop in February and then for the whole month say nothing about the update. I would prefer Sony saying we are waiting until the bugs are fixed before we release the update or something along those lines than complete silence.

I've used Lollipop on my Nexus 7 2013 and as CM12 on my G3 and Oneplus One. I love it! The animations are spectacular and overall everything is very visually appealing. I also love the new notifications shade with the extra pull down for quick settings.

Earlier today, someone from Sony posted to Twitter that they're in the final stages of testing.

Lollipop sounds interesting, but I'll let other folks download it before I give Lollipop a try.
