I've seen a lot of negativity online for this years Unpacked event. Anyone excited for the Ultra?

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

Im excited be back on the Ultra , but Samsung mess up on preorder credit/ trade ins so they get no praise this year from me regardless phone is good or bad .

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

I didn't watch any of the preview on YouTube. I already know about the specs but I concur the trade in values this year are awful. I'm pretty confident I'm not going to pre-order.

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

Yup I think I'm skipping this year mainly due to the poor trade in deals compared to in the past.

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

I absolutely will not buy at the ridiculous MSRP and the garbage trade in values. Samsung is going to get a wake up call on this. It ain't worth it!

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

This is an incremental upgrade at best. With that being said I am excited to get my S23 Ultra and it through it's paces. I love shiny new gadgets. Probably won't replace my flip 4 as my daily driver (love the compactness) but I'm ready to test the 200mp camera.

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

No. Trade in value is garbage. If I do get one it will be thru carrier, I have a old note 9 that will fetch $800. I'm going to go out on a limb and call it.. The 200MP camera will be a gimmick, so getting it for that is senseless IMO.

Their ads on Facebook are getting mainly criticism, not for the trade in amount either. Mainly because it's basically the same phone as the S21 and S22 series. I think the S23 will be a flop and the trade INS will get better after the pre sale. There always will be people like us on here that have to get it just because, but the general public I think will stay put.

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

The thing I'm most excited about is the flatter sides. Honestly. Been hoping for a grippier phone than my 21U for a few years now. If I didn't despise the iPhone os I'd have switched when the ip12 came out.

The only reason I probably will NOT do it is the 3 year contract/credits. If it was 24 months, I'd take the leap.

I also don't like the 36 month carrier contract for a free phone. 24 months is ok, but 3 yrs is too long.

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

Yep. Hoping it's it big upgrade over my Note 20 Ultra. I really wanted the 1TB version but Samsung really f++d up the trade ($380 for the 1TB vs $800 towards the 512gb Verizon version - WTF?)

Probably $1,000 now. Verizon gave that to me for note 9 this morning

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

I'm excited for it but like others said, the rather low trade offers is a bit underwhelming. Not thrilled about that.

I think there will only really be incremental upgrades year to year from now on. I think we've reached the point where there isn't so much you can do to improve year to year.

I ended up going to my Verizon store last night and they gave me the loyalty discount trade in for $1000, so better deal than Samsung

I think I'm going start doing every 2 years top 3

Re: Anyone exited for the Ultra?

In the US, the trade-in offer to upgrade from unlocked S22U to S23U is very low this year. But if you sell your S22U on Swappa instead, and get $180 cash back from Rakuten, and use the $150 Samsung credit to buy an accessory that you sell unopened, then you can effectively upgrade to a 512GB S23U for less than $400.
