Trying to see what limitations there are to doing this. I've heard mixed things. I have a coupon at Best buy that can be used on the s9+ for unlocked no contract phones that will save me 10% off and wanted to use it on the unlocked s9+. Just wanted to see what I could be crippling myself with by doing this.. thanks

I'm using the unlocked on Verizon and the only thing I was really concerned about not having was visual voice mail but it turns out it has it so I'm perfectly happy. I've heard WiFi calling doesn't work and FM radio may not work but I don't use those features so I can't confirm. I'm glad I got the unlocked.

Interesting that you got a working VZW VVM. I don't think that has ever happened with a non-verizon branded phone on Verizon network. I don't like the term "Unlocked" because the Verizon variant is not Carrier locked either. Can you possibly check WiFi calling settings?

No wifi calling or hd voice and I have unlocked on VZ. VVM works and is actually a Samsung download, nothing to do with VZ. Only limitations I'm aware of and works like a champ. Just popped my VZ sim and sd card in and I was up and running in 5 minutes..

Those are big limitations in my opinion. Everyone is different though. In the basement of a hospital, wifi calling is a must.

Understood, have never used it myself. This is my first unlocked so I did the due diligence on what might be missing. Forums here had it pretty much covered prior to my pre-order..

How did you get visual voicemail?

Its a Samsung download and what I did was go leave a VM on my cell and when I went to get the VM off the phone, it immediately opened the Samsung download for VVM. If not, you should still be able to download from the Galaxy App store...

Does it transcribe to text?

I wonder why no wifi calling. I do have the unlocked model and using on tmobile and wifi calling automatically turned on when I restored my backup. I would think wifi calling should work on any carrier. But maybe I'm wrong.

I have the unlocked S9+ and I can make calls and browse the web on LTE network. When I put my sim in phone after booting up a voicemail app downloaded. It's not the same as Verizon's VVM, but i never used that anyway. I've had an unlocked S8+ on Verizon and you lose wifi calling and if you have asurion insurance they will not cover the unlocked phone.

Did the same. Unlocked S9 and made calls and surfed at the same time with no problem.

Good to know. I have asurion right now from my pixel 2 xl and figured it stuck so it would be covered but I guess this answers that.

I got my unlocked so plus at Best buy. Debating either going with their geek squad cost of 7.99 a month or Samsung premium care. Haven't decided.

Yeah, you're wrong, unfortunately. Verizon doesn't play nice with unlocked phones as far as wifi calling. I believe I've read that AT&T was the same but I'm not 100%.

That insurance part is good to know. Guess I'll make sure to grab the Verizon version of the Pixel 3 should I end up buying it.
