Anyone has SOLID recommendation for a Screen Protector for Pixel 2 XL?

So if you are easy on your device, why have a screen protector?

Easy... Because I learned, even though I am easy on my devices and have yet to break a screen, damage the body, you can still scratch your screen. At least, I did.

A few years ago, I had a Mate 9. There was maybe a one month period during my ownership where I decided to join the "go naked" group - I'm sure it was because I read a forum thread talking about how resilient the screen was.

I changed my mind and put a protector back on. I went to sell it sometime after that, I took the screen protector off and upon close examination, there were two scratches on the screen, one really weird sort of triangular one. I think I had seen them but assumed they were on the protector.

My guess is that it was some sand in my pocket because I can't think of any of my other usual behaviors that would have caused scratches. I live in a desert.

It's a particular issue for me because I go through a lot of phones! By choice. <rasing hand> Phone addict. I sell them each time. Every single one has been in mint condition... except the Mate 9. I even use minimal cases (literally MNML cases when I can) but my phones are still immaculate. I'm careful.

This is just my experience. When I get a new phone, I flash back to the Mate 9. Every phone I get, I see the people who advocate no screen protector. I do like what the phone feels and looks like without it. However, I don't know what else I could have done to prevent those scratches. Vaccum my pockets several times a day?

I finally gave in and got the Whitestone glass for my 2XL. The first time, the install went wrong. I watched the video multiple times, executed the steps exactly. I ended up with a double-bubble right in the middle of the screen when I dropped the glass on the screen. I couldn't figure out what happened. I didn't see any dust.

The Dome people said I could order a replacement kit without the installation hardware (light, etc.) at a discounted price. So I did. More money.

This time it worked and I LOVED it... best screen protector ever! (keep reading)

About 2 weeks in, as other Amazon reviewers have pointed out, I started getting micro-cracks at the corner. They started to get a little bigger and ruined the look. I'm easy on my phones, they live a nice life.

I just yanked the dome glass off and went back to the troublesome, traditional tempered glass. I now have a rainbow effect at random times of the day. Sometimes, nothing, other times, I'm looking for the pot of gold. I just live with it.

Interesting side note - I also have a Pixel 2 (small one). The tempered glass I got for that one is perfect. No rainbow. Unfortunately, that company doesn't make one for the 2 XL. Maybe they did before but the 2 XL is older now.
I also have a perfect tempered glass on my Pixel 2. Haven't had any issues with tempered glass on phones with the flat front glass.
