Anyone have the 128 GB version of the ultra? If so how's it performing for you. I have the S21 ultra and might be moving to the 22 ultra but the 128GB version which is available here is just 8Gb ram. Worried that may be a big difference from 12 GB. Thoughts? Played with one on display and was VERY happy with it though Im not sure which. Ram version the display was

If you have a chance to try the display phone again, just go to Settings | Battery & Device Care, and you can see how much memory it has.

I went from the S21 Ultra 12/256 to the S22 Plus 8/256 and no issues and I smart switched my entire S21 over to the S22. Love the slightly smaller device and memory is using about 5gb out of 8gb on the S22. Long time Samsung user and feel we have enough memory management tools to use if needed.

Yep I do. Haven't had any ram issues with mine and I also cranked up my Virtual Ram in RAM Plus to 8 gb just to make sure

Samsung is selling the 256GB/12GB variant for the same price as the 128GB variant, so there is literally no reason to go with the 128GB variant. This offer ends TOMORROW MARCH 10 as far as I can tell, so just order it now and you have nothing to worry about. I am in Canada but I am pretty sure the USA gets the same offer.

My S21U and now my S22U sits at a pretty steady ~6GB of RAM usage (I have never seen higher than 7GB, but I don't always check), so it shouldn't be an issue either way. You can also now allocate some storage as RAM, which is not optimal, but I am not sure the average user would notice a difference.

Where, I have been checking the Samsung site for a few days now and it has been $1299.99 for the 256gb. And today, it shows only black/green available. I do have a white 256gb on sale at Amazon for the price of the 128gb, but their delivery is longer than shown on Samsung's site.

So just curious where I can get it for 1199.99

Maybe the deals for Canadians are different (I just assume most people here are from the USA). You can see it here and the fine print says available until March 10. It is not limited to pre-orders as if I pretend to buy another one it works as of today:

128GB and 256GB variants are the same price, I assumed that was a North American promotion but maybe it was just Canada? If so I apologize for getting your hopes up.

Not sure about Canadian vs. USA; however, I just clicked on that link and the 256gb is $1299.99. Same as I have been looking at. However, your link shows all colors available March 25, and yet if I go to just samsung.com then go to buy ultra black April 10, Burgundy April 22, green April 1 and white sold out. Something is strange in the internet world. I've just been checking to see if I can get a white one sooner than the one I have ordered via Amazon. But Amazon is still offering the white/green 256 models at the same price as the 128 models. Black / Burgundy are at $1299.99. All have a delivery date of April 4 - May 6.

Oh well, life goes on.

As to the OPs question, I would say the 8gb RAM should be quite ok for most users. Unless you plan on having a lot of apps open at the same time.

Where I'm at Best Buy only have one left in stock the black 128Gb. After testing out the 128gb store display model I felt it was worth it and went with it:)

Considering that S22/S22+ only come with 8GB of RAM and I say "only" almost jokingly, I'm pretty confident there's no discernable difference in performance in the S22U/12GB. If someone has experience otherwise I'd love to read that perspective. I almost wonder if it's more psychological than anything else. With 12GB models available I can understand why some would wonder if an 8GB model is somehow deficient in some way. Is anyone really routinely using that extra 4GB of RAM?

That said, I imagine that the extra RAM may futureproof a device for those that may plan on keeping their device for several years. Maybe future versions on Android will really benefit from 12+GB of RAM consistently?

Dont forget the 128gb has 8gb ram but in device care you have Ram+ to bump to 8gb virtual if needed Screenshot_20220309-220944_Device%20care.jpg

I am really curious to know how the virtual RAM effects performance.
I can't really say how it affects performance but this phone is performing it's performing in an outstanding way I run delivery apps I run business work accounts all kinds of stuff with not a delay whatsoever it's incredible I love it

That's great news.

Is 8 GB enough RAM

I have a s21 ultra 512/16 that I am thinking of trading in for the s22 ultra. I really miss the Note line and the spen is very important. My question is, will I see a big performance drop going from 16 to 8 gb of ram or is the virtual ram option really a help?

Re: Is 8 GB enough RAM

I can't remember which youtuber posted a video of the lower ram vs the higher ram without doing the virtual ram and the lower ram model didn't load like 2 or 3 of the 10 apps or whatever many it was on 2nd pass through but otherwise the performed the same.
