Hi my sons nexus 7 is not playing any audio all of a sudden.
It was working fine yesterday then just stopped but the notification sounds still come through everything is all turned up. It's not coming through the speaker or the handset,
He did update his tablet yesterday from lollipop 5 to 5.1 but he can't remember if that's when it started.
Anyone else here on 5.1 working ok?
Cheers

I've been running 5.1 on two Nexus 7's with no audio issues since it dropped/was flashed.
I would think the little speaker cable had been knocked loose but since he still gets notification sounds that can't be the case.

Yes! Ever since the update to 5.1 the audio on my tablet is so low I can barely hear it.
I've tried re-booting, but that hasn't helped.
The volume was never great, but now it's worthless!
Any ideas??

I will take the back to check the speaker cable anyway ...you never know the notifications may use something else lol thanks.
Mines not low jdalbow it's not on at all even with a headset plugged in, sounds like your speaker might be covered in grime and needs cleaning off

I doubt its the cable :( but it is worth a shot. it runs up under the copper shielding at the very bottom of your motherboard just peel that shielding up gently and you'll see if its loose or not.

I have seen an N7 that was very quiet (even turned all the way up) running 5.1. I had just assumed it was a hardware problem like blown speakers. So its not just you jdalbow but my only advice would be to purchase another speaker and pop it in. They're pretty cheap on ebay & the procedure is relatively easy.
maybe someone else will show up with a better answer :)
