Anyone having luck with Grab Image Text in Keep Notes?

I haven't been able to get OCR to work ever since my original Pixel XL. Cannot get it to recognize text at all on my Pixel 3 XL. I'm specifically referring to Google Keep Notes' implementation of this. Used to be lightning fast; now, it just shows a spinning wheel that never stops spinning.

Is it working for any of you?

Thanks.

P.S. I know there are other apps that can do this, but Keep used to do it just fine, and I'd like to avoid installing another app.

I don't even see an option to grab image text. Where do you see this option, setting or feature?
Edit: never mind - found the option and selected it from a perfectly readable picture but just got the same spinning wheel. Left it running for 5 minutes but no joy.
Since I never saw it before today I can't compare it to a working scenario; sorry. Pixel 2 XL running March Security update.

I was able to get it to recognise text on a plaque on my wall. It highlighted and copied to a keep note. So seems to work Pixel 2XL on Pie March security patch.

Okay, so far we have two Pixel 2 XL's with March security patch. One works, one doesn't. My Pixel 3 XL (March security patch) doesn't work. Thanks a lot for chiming in, you two. I certainly appreciate it.

By the way, I've tried taking pictures, downloading text, emailing images with text to myself, tried different kinds of files, etc. Nothing seems to work anymore.

Go figure - I just updated the Keep application to 5.19.091.04.40 (oddly enough update date is March 5th) and Grab Image Text actually worked. I had to try it twice; the second time I saw the 'Image text grabbed' toast; the first time, within about 5 seconds, the spinning wheel went away and there was a toast showing 'Can't recognize text'. Oddly enough, a couple of times when this happened and I selected the picture again, the 'Grab image text' option was missing from the three-dot menu.
Anyway, I tried pictures of plain text (black-on-white) and from a magazine and had reasonable success with both, although I ended up having to turn a light on to get the magazine photo to work. YMMV.
