Anyone heard of Foxfi problem?

I use it all the time on my s3. No problems at all.

That's a scary post! I have used FoxFi on my Mac Book Pro for about 3 weeks with no problems and I use it at school when the WiFi goes down and have never had any problems. I'm wondering if this guys phone has a virus that is infecting the computers that is unrelated to FoxFi.

Doubt it, seems he has other things going on because I've never heard of this.

He just assumes its foxfi. I don't see any evidence that proves it is foxfi

That's what I figured. I thought it unlikely that the poster was onto something, since the issue was posted in the Introductions forum.

Also, FoxFi has been available for quite a while now and I'm sure if something like this was actually occurring because of FoxFi, it would have been banned from the play store and there would be hundreds of thousands of people complaining!

i had installed it on my phone and as soon as i opened it, it opened up my browser to a website about exposed women.

Did you install it from Google Play or some other site? Personally, I would be suspicious of downloading an app from any site besides Google Play or Amazon Appstore.

I wouldn't download an app like FoxFi from anywhere but the official website or the Play store because just think of what a hacker could do. With just a few simple codes they could have all of your Internet connections forwarded through their proxy servers where they could catch user names, passwords, credit card numbers, etc!

Strange, something else has got to be going on here but I have no clue as to what. I've used FoxFi before and so have friends and no one has ever seen this. The internet is a very strange, inconsistent place to say the least. I noticed some people saying Zedge started displaying porn too so something is going around.

I've been using FoxFi for quite a while and have never had this problem (nor has anyone I know who uses it).

I did hear Zedge had this problem recently and they acknowledged and fixed it. Do you by chance have that installed (or another app that includes advertising)? It seems it got in through the advertising programming in the app.

the only apps i use are instagram, facebook, google+, tikl, pandora and netflix and none of them gave me problems

You could try Airpush Detector, available on Google Play. It's supposed to detect apps that push ads, typically on the notification bar.

Also try Lookout Ad Network Detector.
