Anyone know how to get the black bar at the bottom of apps to go away?

Rooting is not the answer to everything. I wish you would stop clogging up the forums telling everyone to root. You act like you want a trophy or some recognition because you root. Unless you have anything beneficial to add besides your trolling comments to root, please stop posting

Jesus christ calm down dude. He's offering a suggestion. If you don't want to go that route then ignore his suggestion. It really isn't that serious. Take a nap and wake up with a smile then come back, K?

If you look at my posts, I have not advised anyone to root or mod their phone. Some people ask how something was done, what's the harm in letting them know the options?

Suggest root is not trolling. Its offering an option that will allow you to make the changes that are often requested. If you don't want to root, you don't have to. But please do not call other members who are just trying to help trolls, or tell them not to post. That is not helpful at all.

Removing the settings bar: go to buttons settings and set it up: home button long press settings, swipe up Google now.
That's it.

Will that only work if you are on 4.2.2?

Frankly they should have done like the HDC One did. Yes its an HTC one knock off. But look at the setup.

I've got my HTC logo working for menu. I like it better than long pressing the back or home buttons.

If anyone wants to know how I did it let me know. You have to be rooted and have an unlocked bootloader which comes with potential risks which I can help you understand provided you are interested in rooting and have seriously weighed the pros and cons. By all means I do not advise anyone to root, install custom Roms or kernels. If you understand the risks associated with it and desire to have the capabilities associated with rooting your HTC one, let me know and I would be more than happy to direct you to some very useful tutorials ands tool kits.

FYI, The 4.2.2 update includes the option to long press the home buttons for menu.

I'd like to know, if it is doable on Android Revolution 9.1 with Android 4.1.2 (I hear 4.2.2 has problems so I'm not upgrading until 5.0 hits.)

Yes it can. In my case I'm utilizing the bulletproof kernel.

There is one for 4.1.2. First backup your current ROM That way in case anything happens, you have a backup. However it has been super stable for me on 4.2.2.

If you don't like the kernel you can just reflsh the ROM without whiping data, or restore your backup which I would suggest just reflashing the ROM its safe and easy.

So to flash the kernel just flash it in recovery be it CWM or TWRP. It uses aroma installer. There you will select what you want.

Features include:

Long press HTC logo to sleep or wake.
Swipe across capacitive area to right to wake left to sleep.
Double tap bottom inch of screen to wake.
HTC logo for menu :)
Home and back buttons flash with led for notifications

WARNING: Flash at your own risk.

Yup, I don't understand a word of that. I'll show it to my buddy, he will be able to make sense of it. I'll likely just mess something up. I'd definitely like to do it without wiping my data if I can. Thanks!

Yes. You will need an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.

I'd spend some time reading up on HTC Dev regarding unlocking the bootloader. Mainly the potential of voiding your warranty. Basically if its something like a bad display or something that you didn't cause, they generally fix it. However if you brick your phone they won't cover that. I have heard mixed opinions on if HTC will honor your warranty if you have a unlocked bootloader, however with my replacement plan I'm not worried about it. That's however a decision you have to make for yourself.

Also OTA updates often require the stock recovery, so you'll run into issues there.

Wait I just realized you are already on ARHD? If so what I said should have ,made some sense. Did your friend install ARHD for you?

Yeah, I already use 9.1. He did install it for me, so I have an unlocked bootloader, a custom recovery, AROMA, the whole bit. Really, I just don't know how to use it, I let him do that. :P I'm learning bits and pieces though. I think I could probably do a ROM at this point, but I've not had experience with the kernel yet.

Flashing the kernel is very similar to flashing a ROM. You boot into recovery and flash the zip. Done.

I've downloaded it, it's just a matter of getting the nerve to do it, haha. I'm afraid of ruining something and if it does go wrong, I will not know the first thing about fixing it.

If I do flash that kernel, will I have to wipe everything? I would rather not, lol.

I personally just ignore the button at the bottom (like in the AC forum app). Most of my apps have the proper button placement for it but the few that don't.. /shrug.

As others have said rooting is probably the best way.

Screw it, I went ahead and did it. It works great, and I'm a little less nervous about doing this in the future now. Gotta learn somehow I guess!
