Anyone know how to merge contacts in the 5x?

I had the s4 and now my contacts that were merged are separate in my nexus 5x.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you open a Contact listing, tap the Pencil icon for edit function, then tap the 3 dots for other menu options. Merge is one of the options. If you select Merge, another screen will open up where you can choose other contacts to join to that contact listing.
