Anyone know when the EVO will be upgraded to Gingerbread?

I called sprint to fix my streaming for Sirius app tonight ,guy on phone out of the blue said" you are getting an update very soon". For what it's worth.

What recovery are you using? Also, where do you notice you have 8 files, is it in recovery or through a file explorer app that you notice this?

I'm using Clockwork. I went to Recovery, Backup and Restore, then Backup. Then after the backup was done, a new folder called "Clockwork" appeared on my sd card. There were 8 files: .android_secure, boot, cache, data, nandroid.md5, recovery, system and wimax. It totals to 849MB.

Andrew that's your nandroid back up those are files you need to flash when things go wrong lol but you have a recovery and you need to download a rom of your choice and put that on the root of your sdcard and get into recovery mode again and wipe everything factory restore, your dalvki and the select flash file of choice and and select the yes flash file and you will see that it has successfully loaded everything now reboot the phone and IT WILL TAKE A LONG TIME TO LOAD DONT TAKE THE BATTERY OUT let it do its thing and now you have a custom rom on your phone hope that helps you alittle but on the subject of this update its going be a while if you want a taste of what to come just root your phone and flash some roms Cuz it ain't coming tomorrow Lol

You can discuss it all you want. Sprint still has the final decision on whether they are going to release the update or not... so making a thread is also a waste because if we knew then it will be on the front page.

I really REALLY hope that htc/Sprint doesn't ruin Gingerbread. I've been on Gingerbread all day now and it's awesome. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that between Sense and even worse Sprint, it's not gonna be anywhere near as awesome. I sure as hell hope I'm wrong.. Then again... I'm rooted.. NonSense aka Sense based with Sense/Sprint garbage removed ROMs FTW...

"Rooting" means to unlock or jailbreak your phone so you can make changes to the basic system files.

Upgrading to "honeycomb"means to upgrade your rom or operating system. It's like upgrading from Windows xp to Windows 7. The honeycomb rom hasn't been officially released yet.
