When the EVO 3D was first announced, all of the spec sheets listed video recording topping out at 720p for 3D and 1080p for 2D. Well, now the Sprint site shows that video recording tops out at 720p, but playback can be done at 1080p.

HD video capture at 720p and playback up to 1080p

Just thought I'd point this out in case 1080p recording was important for people.

I was wondering the same thing, however no one at Sprint is clarifying so far.

Here is a pic while the camcorder is set to 2D. Highest option is 720p

I could care less. 720p looks the same to me as fricking 1080p, I know some of you could but I guess my eyes dont look for every pixel. Plus I dont really use my camera as a video recorder anyways.

For a phone thats supposed to be so revolutionary and feature packed, they sure dropped the ball on this.

what ball they drop. why cant you just migrate to sgs2 forums already, it seems that you are jumping on negatives, I could come out and say cnet gave it an excellent and it is really hard to get an excellent score with them, but you know what, no one cares. I would rather have the phone in my hand and judge it for myself then going by engadget.

720p for 3D, 1080p for non-3D

Some how it got left out of the final firmware. HTC either found issues with it, like they had at CTIA. Or they are being HTC and holding off features till a later time, to give the phone appeal when the next update drops. I got my hands on a EVO 3D at the Sprint store that a rep had, and it only had 720p in both modes, but it was explained just like in Engadgets review the 3D isn't real 720p. It's two frames put into one to make it 720p.

I'm detecting fanboyism here. I've been drooling over this phone and preordered it several weeks ago.

Good review = yay
Bad review = they're biased!!!

People not sure after review = get out of this forum and head over to SGS2!!!

Come on. That is so ******ed. I'm definitely having second doubts about this phone.

I totally agree. I sold my evo 4g and currently am using a HTC Hero so I will definitely get the Evo 3D but I have two lines and both are up for a upgrade so I will definitely be getting the SGS2 if I'm not satisfied with the E3D.

Well the reason people are saying the Engadget review is biased is because Myriam typically is. Also, her review is wildly different from the other reviews. Either this phone is really inconsistent, or some reviewers just say "3D" in the name and were so hell bent on destroying the phone because of their personal vendetta against that "gimmick."

Also the one person that was told to leave for the SGS2 forums is a known troll who is always being argumentative and rude (and obvious Samsung fanboy that thinks HTC is terrible and Samsung can do no wrong). It wasn't a general comment for anyone who was worried by the reviews, it was specifically for FocusFreak. Seriously, go read some of his other posts.

Some of you seem to be missing what happened here... even on the specs it says RECORDING up to 720p and PLAYBACK up to 1080p. It doesnt and never said 1080p for recording.. only people that didnt interpret the spec right to begin with thought that. I mean it says it there as plain as day on the spec sheet.

HD video capture at 720p and playback up to 1080p

People just were reading between the lines without getting what it was actually saying.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner.

Well the reason people are saying the Engadget review is biased is because Myriam typically is.

I don't find her to be biased at all. She has some high expectations about cameras (as do I), which is why I am glad she reviewed this one that brags up the camera as its biggest feature.

Stages of grief has the fanboys in denial stage right now. Anger is next in 3, 2, 1...
