Good Morning everyone was wondering if any of you pay for visual voice mail? I am so used to it coming with the phone (prior iphone4 user) and now im noticing that Verizon wants us to pay for it. Is there an app for this?

Hey Rem, because it assigns numbers will it affect family and friends plan?

You don't want to get a new number. Just sign up for the service and link it with your current number and you're good to go. It doesn't change anything with your plan. Only your voicemail.

Download it on your phone and it should setup everything for you. DON'T GET A NEW NUMBER.

Thanks scorp I asked because I was reading the ratings and someone stated that it adds an extension to the contact numbers which makes them different the person went on to say that if on family plan it's not good. Are you using it on a Fam plan?

Go to google.com/voice

Sign in with your google account and register your current number. Set it up on your phone and you're good to go. One of the best things about google voice is voicemail transcription for FREE.

Yes I used on my EVO on family and I use it now on my iPhone. It doesn't change any of the numbers. Not sure what reviews you are reading and what that person did but it's been the best voicemail I've ever used. Better than iPhone visual voicemail and better than Youmail. Trust me, you'll be fine.

Someone that rated the app stated Note: Friends and Family If use Google voice as part of your Friends and Family to save minutes - this app isn't for you. Google Voice now assigns each of your contacts to a different dial out access number so it's not like using Google Voice from the web. Then the person went on to say that's the only problem they have with it. Anyone with Friends and Family plan using this?

TY Scorp, I thought Evo came with it preloaded?

Doesn't matter if it preloaded or not. If your number isn't set up for it, you can't use it. Anyone with an Android phone can download it from the market. Preloaded has nothing to do with anything.

I use it on a family plan. I got the gv number to use for anyone other that personal contacts such as bills, credit card companies, etc. I set up the gv voicemail on my phone. I have never had any problems with it. Apparently whoever wrote that review was trying to use it to get free minutes instead of using their vzw minutes. If you just use it for vvm, you will have no issues. I use it without any charges and I've had it for over a year.

Agreed. Just using it for voicemail will give no problems or any changes. I'm not sure what could happen when getting a GV number and what it does to your info. But as long as you just register your number, you should be good. I've been using it since it was in beta and you only could use it with an invite from someone who already had it with no problems.
