Anyone Received The Official FH13 Update? Post It Up When You Do

Re: Anyone Received The Official FH13 Update? Post It Up When You

Got FH13 yesterday. Noticed when I needed it that GPS was not functioning in any app. Cleared cache (startup menu) and appears functional to 7-20 feet :) Browser issues appear resolved with this update no more scrolling BS. I have been having problems with the wifi since the FF18 update and that continues to occur. When the phone sleeps (unless plugged in) the wifi connection drops, although the icon is lit, menu is set to be connected always and the wifi directory shows that I am connected to the router. I simply receive no emails, cannot browse or do anything data related until I turn off the wifi reconnecting to Sprint (during sleep) or cycle it back on and continue working:( There hasn't been enough time spent on it yet to see any battery improvement, but I use this device all day for calls and browsing so I never got more than a day out of it before ICS update.
This phone was great on GB and although I like the ICS interface just a little better Everything worked with GB. Oh yeah it makes phone calls too!

Any help on the Wi-Fi issue is appreciated I may try the SD card removal trick-I've noticed during startup there isn't as long a time viewing the SD card as before. Thought for food.

Cheers

Did you do a hard reset before or after?

No, Does the Hard reset require reinstalling apps and loss of videos and pics, etc?

Re: Anyone Received The Official FH13 Update? Post It Up When You

Currently installing on a co-workers phone through Kies. I'm just going to backup his SD card & format that right away. Hopefully his phone stops locking up so much. If it keeps locking up, I will have him do a factory reset.

Yes. You would need to do a backup of apps, pics, videos etc.
Sprint just replaced mine after I updated from GB to ICS This one already came with ICS and it has had better battery life and reception so I am wondering if i should do this update....

Re: Anyone Received The Official FH13 Update? Post It Up When You

I just installed the OTA update this morning. I caught me completely off-guard, since I haven't been following the forum for the past few weeks. So far I've noticed the UI seems to be a bit more responsive and I have yet to see any lockups. It's been too soon to notice any difference in battery life.

I absolutely loved the phone when it was running GB, but like many couldn't wait for the ICS update. For the most part the update was ..OK.. but I wasn't thrilled. The UI appeared sluggish at times and would occasionally become completely unresponsive for several seconds. The most aggravating is the drop in reception and constant WiFi disconnects. I am constantly notified of roaming status now, where I never was when running GB. The WiFi continuously disconnects and reconnects even though it is set to Always remain on during sleep. I only see this at work, so I believe it may have something to do with dual band WiFi. The WAP at work operates at both 2.4 and 5 GHz, where my home WAP is only 2.4. Maybe it's constantly switching bands???

It will be a couple of days before I'll know if the FH13 update corrects these issues on my phone. The wife installed the FH13 OTA update a couple of days ago and says that it's still locking up. Guess I'll be doing a factory reset on hers. I've been putting it off for a while, but it's time to bite the bullet.

Got my update on wednesday morning. I haven't noticed any improvements. Still horrible. GB was more stable.

Got the update this morning. Didn't check battery life but GPS is fixed. Now it locks on quickly.

I received the update about a week ago, and am down to 39% battery after 7 or 8 hours standby. I thought it was doing pretty good at first but it has steadily gone downhill. I'm not sure if some other update is causing it or if its just the way this is going to act. Oh well i have plenty of chargers.

Got my OTA this morning just as i took it of the charger. Perfect timing, cause i can now test the battery today to get a real idea of how its improved. Usually by the time i get home from work my phone is beeping at me to be charged. We shall see.

Re: Has Anyone Actually Received The FH13 OTA? Post It Up When Yo

Got my update early this morning.

I just got notified about the update. I did save a copy if anyone needs it still?

But I have a question, I am rooted with clockwork mod installed.

Can I just do the update automatically from Sprint if I've saved my root.

Or do I have to do a manual install?

Thanks!

Rob

The downloaded update would fail because you have a custom recovery installed. You will need to flash the rooted FH13 Odin one click, or restore your recovery to stock.

After a couple days I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed a better build than the last time... The UI is snappier (like), wifi sleep/signal is better (like) and overall it just seems different. However, I still see some glaring issues. Radio. Still. Sucks. Ass. Where I usually get great service, I now roam. And the battery life. Forget. It. With absolutely no use I get 3 days of the phone being on. If I use my phone normally I get 6 hrs. So yeah... It's okay. But it is by no means perfect. OH! Got to try the 4G wimax in grand Rapids MI! Man is it snappy! I love this phone on 4G. Too bad I don't have it at home! =(

I received the update over a week ago and have had a lot of time to monitor the changes. So far I'm seeing smoother transitions and overall operation. At first I thought the battery was the same, no better, no worse but now I think I'm getting more out of each charge. Started running SPB shell and even with all it's graphic advancements I get no slowdown and great battery longevity.

Wanted to make a quick update on my battery problem. I downloaded the easy battery saver app from google play and my problem has greatly improved. I am still at 99% battery left after almost 4 hours of standby, checked email, did a couple of texts, no phone calls yet. A couple of days ago I was down to about 70%, so vast improvement. This app works very well although it isn't perfect. It will shut down wifi, so you need to check that it is on before trying to do any downloads etc. You can customize the app or just take one of the suggested settings. I am not a big data user, no games, not much surfing, etc so this app may work better for me than people who do a lot more on-line stuff. The app is free so if you are having battery usage problems you might want to give easy battery saver a try.
