Anyone return the Galaxy Nexus and waiting on the EVO 4G LTE?

Just got rid of my nexus s 4g for a evo 3d, while for the longest I thought the pure Google experience was the beginning and end all, Samsung and their phones just wore it down.

While Ics is awesome it will be coming to most phones anyways, the build quality of Samsung irritates me.
And the gps issues are rather pathetic.

My evo 3d is amazing, while it is on gingerbread the device feels like quality, it's gps is spot on and flawless and signal is great unlike my nexus 4G, my cousin also had signal issues with his gnex on verizon and forever now I've always heard how it "will be fixed", sorry to say but it won't, after a few small software updates and bug fixes, and many radio updates it did get better but it never was truly fixed because it is a Samsung hardware problem.

As much as I love the gnex I will not be getting it, ill wait for the new evo with a larger screen, working gps and no signal issues.

Basically when I had my nexus I just swept the issue under the rug, now that I'm back on a htc device im wondering why I ever left in the first place.

I hope you realize that every phone isn't built and/or designed the same way. That said, the Galaxy nexus is leaps and bounds ahead of the NS4G. I for one had ALL of Sprint high end phones and I currently have the Galaxy Nexus. In my opinion its the best Android phone I've used and owned. The issues that the NS4G suffered from far as GPS issues, radio issues is not here in the Galaxy nexus or at least i haven't experienced them. My Gps locks quickly and stays locked for the duration of it's use. As far as radio/reception, I get service with the GN that I never got with my NS4G.

Don't get me wrong, there are some Galaxy nexus phones that may experience issues or whatnot, but what electronic device doesn't. If you or anyone else think that ANY phone that is on the horizon, that being the HTC Evo Lte, SGS3, iPhone 5 etc, is not gonna have some type of issue, you're dreaming.

As far as the HTC Evo 3D, according to the Sprint Techs I spoke to...it is the worst android phone that sprint carries. People have been reporting a lot issues with it and returning them. In addition, I for one will not be getting the HTC Evo Lte. the reason being is it's design. All their phones look just alike. Heck, the Galaxy S 2 commercial, when the Apple customer says, "It looks the same as the previous model, How would anyone know I upgraded," should not only reflect on the iPhone but HTC products as well, because they all look similar. At least Samsung devices put a little twist to the design of their products.

All in all, everybody gets what they want or what they feel comfortable with. I for one like my Galaxy Nexus and I just can't see myself parting ways with it.

That good to hear they fixed most of the issues.
My cousin had a launch verizon gnex and had the signal issues.

Who knows I may end up with the gnex but that's what the 14 day return windows are for.

Personally I think the evo lte is a better device, only time will tell.

I'm returning mine in the morning. I wasn't impressed at all and the battery life isnt anything to write home about. I didnt feel like pure ICS was all it was hyped up to be either. I went back to the iPhone 4s til the EVO comes out. I still love and miss the way colors pop on the AMOLED screen though.
I feel like my ET4G was better. Especially battery wise but also with games, they seemed smoother.

I come to realize most people like the eye tricks that come with sense. Not me I feel the carousel is hideous and would never
Buy a HTC device until it's completely stock, with s-off, & unlocked bootloaders! Church!
sent from a Android device :)
I'm always on!

I don't get why people always make these comments about battery life etc. I mean, do you all expect the phone to last 24hrs a day w/out a charge. Back in the day, they did...specifically speaking the 1st and iPhone 3g. Those phones could last days on one charge, even the blackberries. But with todays phones and technology, a lot more things are running in the background that uses more battery life.

I've owned EVERY high end smartphone that sprint has offered. My theory of great battery life is a phone that can last my entire work shift (8 hours) and most of them did. The NS4G lasted about 7 1/2 hours. However all HTC phones I owned, that being the OG Evo, Evo 3D and Evo Shift all had horrible battery life, lasting somewhere between 6 and 7 hours. However, I have a phone charger at my work and a car charger in my car.

Now as far as the E4GT, that is a great phone...no denying that. But with NFC support and ICS and 32 GB of storage, in my opinion the Galaxy Nexus is better device out of the box. And people make the comments that there is no lag on the E4GT, where I'm here to say, there is lag on the E4GT. It's very minimum, but it's there.

I'm not saying the Galaxy Nexus isn't a great device I'm just saying what killed it for me in my opinion. I've had all of sprint's high end smart phones, and some low end ones, for the last few years and up until the iPhone 4S Android was my go to OS.

I didn't say the ET4G didn't have any lag just that games were a little smoother with it for me. Like shadow gun and a few other graphic intensive ones. The ET4G had way better battery life, for me and many others, than the Nexus and a better processor and GPU in my opinion. It's downfall was the non HD screen and WiMax. I had a 32GB SD card in my ET4G so storage wasn't a concern especially since there was 16GB internal also.

I work with combative people and law enforcement so I'm constantly on the move at night and rarely have a chance to plug in a charger if at all. I need something that can last through the night with a good amount of use. I would hate to be out on a call and my phone die while in the middle of a call.

ICS is definitely better visually and I love the way the folders are but I didn't think it was what all the hype portrays it to be (Personal opinion of course).

With any luck the new EVO 4G LTE will be a good all around device but if not hopefully the new Galaxy S III will have the battery life of the ET4G with a little more under the hood.

Just read, you're in law enforcement, me too. I understand where you're coming from though. I'm sure the Evo Lte will be a great device. But I just can't get with sense. But if the opportunity knocks, I may snag one. Otherwise, I may grab the SG3 or iPhone 5. But for now, I'm liking this Galaxy Nexus.

Amy thoughts on the GNex camera compared to phones you left? I know the EVO LTE camera will be better than GNex, but is the GNex camera still a step up or down from EVO 4G? Or the 3D or EVO Design?

Mostly wondering about EVO 4G to GNex compared to EVO 4G to EVO LTE.

I don't know of stock ICS seems as user friendly for high volume of email, contacts and calendar use compared to Sense. Sense in some ways seems more efficient for heavy use?? Just my impression from the video first reviews.

No way I have been waiting for this phone for quite some time, it was either this unlocked or the Epic II in white which one would you guys have picked?

If you want updates first and a beautiful screen pick this up. If you want battery life and a little better processor and GPU I say epic touch. They just had an almost final ICS update leak for the epic also. It's all about what you like more honestly though as they are both great devices that both have there ups and downs. ICS is a little more visually pleasing than touchwiz I think.

The camera on the nexus is better than the OG EVO and takes pictures with literally almost no shutter lag. Evo 3D I can't really remember because I usually took 3D pictures since I got it right around the time my son was born and it still had the new 3D novelty factor going on for me. It is of course also faster than the camera on the 3D.
I have seen some very nice pics taken with the nexus though just check out some of the other threads in the forum where they're posting pics.

Re: Anyone return the nuxus and waiting on the evo lte

The only other thing that bothered me was how light it was. I'm not saying that it is a cheap phone, but it felt that way to me.

Coming from a line of HTC phones (mogul, touch pro, tp2, etc) I had felt the same way whenever I picked up a Samsung phone. I remember picking up my HTC and saying "this feels solid" which in my mind...meant it was built well...
I later had a chance to go to a phone release party (its when a cell company teaches a provider how to sell their product)and got a chance to talk to a rep who explained to me that "Our new phones are cutting their weight wherever possible" He explained that this is done on purpose. He worked for LG, but actually said the Samsung was unrivaled in doing this(making phones light as possible). The trick is making the phone light while not compromising durability.

I have now changed my mind about light phones. I find that they break less when dropped compared to heavy ones. In the end, for me, its always function over form. If lighter =more durable...then count me in.

squaretrade did a series of tests that kinda show this as well;
iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II Drop Test - YouTube

seems kinda crazy to drop a phone from shoulder height, but if you're in the warranty business...I guess you market however you can...
