anyone returning the Droid X for the Droid2

I've been considering it. The speaker/volume issue, although it is going to be fixed, has had me irritated from the start. My battery life is horrible. The home launcher takes secondS to load at times.

I love the phone for the most part but there have definately been some pains dealing with it.

And I do miss a physical keyboard.

I've been thinking about it...only because I'm not 100% sure I like the size of the X. I had the original droid for six months and I loved that phone so I'm fairly confident I'd be happy with the D2. I'm not really sure how it is considered a downgrade when the specs are pretty similar (obviously camera and HDMI are the biggest X advantages).

As long as I've got Froyo and a nice 1ghz processor I feel that I'm in good hands. I'll go play with the D2 on Thursday and see what kind of conclusion I come up with. I still think I will probably end up keeping the X. I still prefer the slab form without any moving parts.

It's not a downgrade at all. The specs are almost identical with the X having the slight lead. I guess people are just referring to it as a downgrade because of the smaller screen. I also used to own a D1 but I didn't need the physical keyboard and wanted a larger screen so the X was an easy choice.

The poor camera performance has me wondering if I'll keep the DX. Images appear to be a bit soft and definitely noisy. I'm not sure if I want to stick it out and hope that moto fixes it with 2.2 or get the D2.

I only have a one year contract so I can possibly gut it out and see what's out there next year as well.

Dont take this the wrong way, because everybody has their own priorities when it comes to a smart phone, but I dont understand the emphasis on the camera? IF pictures were that important and I took them a lot, I would carry real camera. Sure, Its convenient having the camera and phone in one device, but I dont expect any phone to perform like a real camera- I could be wrong, but since the begining of my smartphone days , HTC 6700, treo 700,755, bb8130, curve, storm1, tour, HTC Imagio, Touch Pro 2, droid, palm pre, inc and now droid x, none were that great. I wouldnt expect the D2 to be any better, but I could be mistaken. I too hope Froyo makes difference.

The camera is important to me. I own a DSLR and a bunch of lenses, and sure, if it's an important photo I carry those with me. But I don't want to have to own a smaller point and shoot also when the specs on current cameras are already cutting into the midrange of those devices. Part of what justifies the space that a phone like the X takes up in my pocket is that I can not carry a PaS camera.

That said, Vignette has done wonders for the camera quality since I got it a couple days ago. Definitely check it out before you return the X over photo quality.

Swype and nearly every feature on the X is on the D2...the screen, well, you got me there.

I'm curious to see the d2, but I cannot imagine being so smitten that I would go to the trouble of switching...with swype, I'm texting faster than I did on a bb keyboard, and brother I was mean on a bb keyboard (most folk are). Don't miss physical at all.
I love the ridiculous screen size, and my battery seems to be getting better. No, I'm more interested to see some of the things that big red has rumored to have going on next year, like the gsm/cdma 1.3 ghz phone I read about last week. (droid pro) Until then, the x has totally satisfied me.

Checked out the D2 today. If you HAVE to have a physical keyboard, then it is probably a really good phone. I can say that the keyboard is notably better than the D1. However, I still have problems with it as I don't think the keys are "dome-y" (yeah, I made that up) enough. You can feel them better, but I would prefer a more noticeable peak so I can feel them better.

That said, I am much better/faster using Swype. I'm even better/faster using SlideIt (from the market). They are, IMO, far more productive. And I used to be a keyboard diehard. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be turning in my laptop keyboard, but on a smartphone, IMO, these Android keyboards are much better.

If the DX is too big AND you don't need a physical keyboard, then I'd suggest the Incredible as I don't see why you'd want the extra bulk of the D2 relative to an equivalent screen without the keyboard.

I have to admit that I'm VERY happy that I went ahead and got the DX rather than wait on the D2. I would have been disappointed and would have had to live with my BB Storm 1 for another 3 weeks (from my NE2 date).

I was thinking of it. So far the X has been really good, with the one exception, the poor ringtone volume. Reception has been stellar. Voice quality excellent. I missed several calls yesterday because I couldn't hear the phone ring. And I have a very loud ringtone installed.

I read in another forum that someone had checked out the D2 and the ringtone volume was no better than the X. Can someone confirm this? I really like the X over the D2, but this ringtone volume issue is killing me.

I am coming to the X from a S2 BB. This phone (X) is 10 times the phone I had. Don't think I want to take a step back.....
