anyone returning the Droid X for the Droid2

From BlackBerry Storm 1 To Droid X to Droid 2!! I don't Think So!!! Homie don't play that!!!

Now I might do it for the Motorola Droid Pro some of the specs I seen for it looks good!!!

I'd be lying to say the thought didn't cross my mind as I performed a 5th battery pull on my X last night. I don't like to make emotional purchases of electronics/gadgets, though, so I'll wait a bit to see if the performance of my X improves.

Tiny screen and a physical keyboard...no way.

:D I'd hardly call a 3.7" screen tiny.

The camera is important to me. I own a DSLR and a bunch of lenses, and sure, if it's an important photo I carry those with me. But I don't want to have to own a smaller point and shoot also when the specs on current cameras are already cutting into the midrange of those devices. Part of what justifies the space that a phone like the X takes up in my pocket is that I can not carry a PaS camera.

That said, Vignette has done wonders for the camera quality since I got it a couple days ago. Definitely check it out before you return the X over photo quality.

Likewise. I'm a photographer. I have a "day job," though and always have my Canon G10 point&shoot with me. Using Vignette, the G10 has spent more time in my bag for on-the-fly shooting. The picture quality, using Vignette the Droid X produces images with acceptable quality, at least for I expect when not using a DSLR. The G10 still take far superior pictures, but it's quite bulky.

Not going to happen!!! No way!!! :) Why would I want to change over to a true brick, besides the Droid 2 seems like they just spit out the original Droid and simply made it thicker and my opinion on the Droid X camera is that its a software flaw, this is why 3rd party apps seem to do better than stock...

Also it appears the hardware on Droid 2 is closer to the original Droid then the Droid X and in my thought is that would be a downgrade...

Yeah there's no chance of a switch. For a smaller screen and phys keyboard? Not worth it for me

I switched from an Omnia (Windows Mobile) to a Touch Pro 2 to get the only slide-out keyboard I ever found on a smart phone that I could actually use. But the TP2 was so slow it was nearly useless for keeping track of a half dozen forums I participate in.

I would have trouble giving-up the big screen on the Droid X, but I plan to take a good look at the Droid 2 before my 30 days are up.

I had to...check out the D2 today. I was underwhelmed. In other words, hell no, I just couldn't do that

If the Droid X didn't come out and the Incredible wasen't out, I would go with the droid 2. The bottom line is that the X is the better phone....period. We can argue for days on this forum on which is best but I really believe that in about 30 days, you will see that the droid 2 is not all that.

Placed my order for the DX just as the D2 came out...didn't cross my mind, but I'm going to stick with the DX and I don't even have it yet.

I did the exact opposite actually. Got my droid 2 on launch day and placed my exchange order for my x on saturday night.

So the D2 isn't your cup of tea? I want to play with one just to see how it is. I still think the orginal droid is right up there with the DX.

Just out of curiosity, what are your criteria for that? I don't see them as being equivalent and I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

why would you? unless you like a physical keyboard, DX is the king of droid phones

It is the king of droid phones on Verizon. The true king of Droid phones is the EVO 4G. But I am a verizon customer...so no Evo for me. I really don't like moto blur so I am holding out to see what else Motorla might have for Verizon this winter. I have been a Storm1 user since release day and am looking forward to having a bigger screen...but not at the expense of moto blur. I called Verizon last night to complain about the lack of adequate options and was thinking of leaving for another carrier. They are sending me a free Storm2 upgrade to tide me over until the new releases this winter. No cost for the upgrade form S1 to S2 and my contract date is the same...so on November 21, 2010 I will be a free agent.

So I will be looking for the best Droid has to offer. Maybe Froyo on the X will fix some of the performance issues I noted with 2.1 running behind moto blur and I will still get the X. Still waiting and watching.

Thought about getting the Droid 2 instead of the X only because I'm impatient and can't wait for my X to arrive but I decided to wait. Instead I pass the days by stopping by the local Verizon store and playing with the floor model whenever I get a chance. Droid 2 seems like a downgrade as some have already said.

Really?

You should look into the EVO a little more. I have done a lot of research and most of the speed test and benchmark test put the Droid X as faster then the EVO 4. Not to mention the EVO is on an inferior network. I too am a S1 user since release day although I have had 4 replacements and finally my screen cracked just recently. I am already a free agent because I refuse to sign 2 yr contracts I buy phones for retail just in case that way if Verizon pisses me off I can make a change without penalty. But as for the comment on the EVO being a better phone I disagree.

Kudos on talking Verizon into a new phone though and good luck on finding the Android for you.

I'm on froyo on my x and it its sweet. Keep finding the improvements as I use the phone. Not sure if its my imagination, but the battery seems to have made a huge improvement!

Wouldn't trade my DX for anything else on the market these days. Very disappointed in the camera, though. Am also a photo buff (retired now, so more hobby than income) from years of being a newspaper reporter. One of the determining factors to choose the DX was the 8 mp camera. But DX photos are a disaster of inconsistency; often so blurry it looks like the whole camera mechanism shifted during the shot. I would try the Vignette app, but with Froyo pending, I think I'll wait and see if there's an improvement.
